Meh - we will see. It isn't like Banchero had an amazing rookie year. He has some serious warts. He got 20/7 on high usage. Shot well from 2 and struggled from 3 and at the line and his defense was pedestrian. Jabari Smith is a little younger, and was putting up similar numbers to Banchero the last two months of the season. It is a marathon and not a sprint. Jabari is easier to fit players around, but if Banchero can become a high volume/efficient scorer, he will be better overall. Let's wait and see what happens.
Equating a small sample from Jabari compared to a full season with Banchero is interesting. Jabari is a catch and shoot player. Paolo is a legitimate hub and playmaker who is better served in that role than a flat out scorer or shooter. I can only pray that Jabari becomes the shooter and defender that everyone thought he would be coming out of college.
