People were complaining about the Astros' bullpen all through Luhnow's tenure too. In our 2017 World Series run, the bullpen was barely playable - they had to resort to mostly running starters out there because their actual bullpen players kept imploding.
I honestly think the Astros just took all fun out of baseball. I guess it’s time for the sport to end. Should be anytime now.
I love the idea of no bullpen. Just roll with all starters and pressly (who kinda stinks) and stop the bleeding. ****ing bullpen is an embarrassment.
as did Valdez. As did Javier in his relief stint. I’m as pissed as everyone at Dusty’s unwillingness to be “unconventional”, and we desperately need at least one more reliable reliever, but like Kyle Tucker earlier in the year … the underlying fundamentals are better predictors of future success than recent results. If Baez can come in and be solid and/or we get any relief help, I’ll take this team over almost any other in MLB going forward.
An interesting idea... I wonder if a seven man starting rotation would spread the innings enough to have the starters go eight innings regardless of score and have Pressley close games out. At least for a week or two, hopefully buying us time to pursue trades and audition replacement candidates.
They're BOTH annoying. I'd prefer SILENCE to either. But I'd love to hear another former Astro color guy.
I really really route for Greinke because I speculated about him before they were even thinking about a trade. I noticed the Astros weren't one of the 15 teams on his no trade list. It was about three weeks later when they acquired him. So, even though nobody listened to me, I feel responsible.
Really a damn shame when you tune into a 4-0 lead but turn the channel because you know the real game starts in the 7th inning..
