Rhostetler82 is implying that Berkman doesn't have an injury and is using that as an excuse as to why he is hitting poorly this year. He seems to be ignoring the fact that Berkman and the Astros's say the injury occurred this past Thursday, therefore indicating that this particular wrist injury has nothing to do with how poorly he hit up until Thursday.
Wow... somebody is actually questioning Berkman's honesty?!? I suppose none of us know for sure but if there is a better human being in professional sports than Lance Berkman, I would be shocked. Berkman is one of the greatest hitters in the history of baseball but I guess when he struggles for a few weeks, some people feel the need to make up unsupported BS about his character.
easy, now. I'm a big fan of Berkman, too. But I think that praise is perhaps a bit much. Definitely second tier at best, a very defined cut below Aaron, Mays, Ruth, Williams, Gehrig, et. al.
That wasn't really the point but okay, second-tier. I was basically saying that he's been one of the better hitters in the game for about a decade yet when he goes into a slump for whatever reason, you see too many "Astros fans" for my taste talking all kinds of trash about him. It was only one person in this thread but I've seen a lot of that going on beyond CFs as well. Questioning his abilities is insane enough in itself but when people start questioning the guy's character, it's just WTF.
o I hear ya. Like I said earlier, beyond the numbers and the "nice guy interviews" we have teammates and coaches past and present praising his work ethic in the press. While all that should be taken with at least a couple grains of salt, generally over a ten-year period if someone's lazy or giving to jaking an injury you'll hear at least some whispers of it from folks on the inside.
