It wasn't like the Astros were going to score any runs off Peavey anyway, Hirsh would have had to give up zero runs to have a chance.
Only the 5th inning...still time for a rally. However, got to score soon, don't want to have to rally against Hoffman. DD
Well.....we can't win em all......especially against a really good team like the padres.........if we win tomorrow....its ll good.
wow, i was just typing this post to ask biggio to not gidp so at least lance could get up and he finished off the dp before i could even post. awesome.
It's unreal the luck this team has. All you can do is ask to give Lance a chance. He had it... if Biggio did anything but hit a sharp ground ball. And that's exactly what he does. On the flip side, earlier this game, it seems all Ausmus does is hit sharp ground balls... except when there's a runner on third and one out. Then he does the only thing he can't... not make contact. I can't recall seeing a team this cursed in all my years watching baseball. It's uncanny.
was it realistic to expect us to win this one with hirsch going against a stud ace in peavy? we just need to win tomorrow's game and its all good....
When did a team that is 1 or 2 games above .500 get considered a really good team? We should be NAILING them to the wall. DD
The Astros are entitled to lose a game and they have. This team has won 8 out of the last 11 and I'll take that happily. Keep playing like this and the Astros will win the NL Central.
Just got back from the game.... This was not a horrible loss, we had a rookie pitcher going against Jake Peavy who dominates the Astros, the bullpen didn't blow it and we didn't blow several chances(although the Biggio GIDP killed us), we can't win 'em all, we'll get a W tommorow and win another series. As far as Jason Hirsh goes, he obviously has promise and talent, he's got the good fastball 93-94 but he relied on the fastball wayyyy to much, left it up a little, didn't have great control of it. His changeup looked pretty good with some sinking movement and the slider has some sharp downward break. However he rarely threw the change or breaking ball, to be honest Matt Albers looked better in his starts, he got in jams, but didn't get hammered like Hirsh did. The team is still swinginthe bats well, Mo got a couple of hits, his double was a bullet, Willy T still swinging well, Berkman continues to be great, AE looked decent and Luke Scott honestly looks like a stud.
^^ Hirsh looked pretty solid those first few innings; when he got into his first jam int he third he responded quite well. And then they just freakin teed off on him in the 4th. 3 damn home runs in one inning. The bats probably got about as much as you're gonna get out of Peavy. It was just one of those games the home team wasn't meant to win. But what a boring game to go to...out of a few good moments from Hirsch, one good play by Ensberg and the Berkman home run, there really wasn't much to get excited about...great size crowd though.
good team? i lost all respect for astros fans after i heard "the pirates are a powerhouse offensively, it's just their pitching..." right, the punchless padres and the penis-lacking pirates are powerhouses. And yes, i can sterotype everyone from just hearing one remark. Btw, Ensberg for the number 2 hole! My protest will never die
