Jake Peavy is 5-11? Damn I didn't realize he was struggling so much this year.

WWW, keep the good time rolling.

Stros catch Chan Ho in his first start back after his anemia & blood-transfusion stuff, could be rusty, definitely won't be able to go deep into the game; Khalil Spicoli may miss all or part of the series with a jammed finger - expect to see Geoff F***ing Blum at SS some.

It's not just Piazza...iirc, they're far and away the worst team in MLB in preventing stolen bases.

    Piazza: 71 SB, 8 CS, 10.1 CS%
    Bard: 37 SB, 9 CS, 19.6%
    Bowen: 7 SB, 0 CS, 0%

His last few starts have been better actually. Against us he only gave up one run in 7 innings, which we eventually won 1-0.

Saturday game should be a good one.

I'm hoping Jason Hirsch can step up, because if not then I think we lose this series. I just don't believe that Brandon Backe has the kind of stuff that can fool a team twice in a short period of time, and he pitched well against he Pads recently. If the bats keep clicking this series, it may not matter, however.

But Backe is much better at home than on the road...

    Career:

    Home - 12-4, 3.64 era, 1.30 WHIP, .242 BAA
    Away - 7-9, 5.75 era, 1.63 WHIP, .289 BAA

This should be a sweep. Andy has been better of late, especially at home. Hopefully, Hirsh will continue what he's been doing. I wouldn't expect too much, but I'm confident the pen can hold it down if necessary. They haven't had a bunch of work lately, so they should be rested.

    The streak continues...WWW

It's got to be scary to be an incumbant leader in the Wild Card race with the surging Astros looming. It feels inevitable that we take this race to the wire.

    You can do it!

    WWW

we drop pads out of race and we pick up 1 game on reds and cards over the weekend.
Next week is where we make up ground on reds or cards!
