The Texans and Packers have met twice before. Both times the winning team won with a kicked FG as time expired. Andre Johnson needs 61 receiving yards to reach 10,000 for his career. This will be Andre Johnson's 128th game he has played. He will tie Kris Brown for most games played as a Texan. i remember the year in 2005 when we stunk it up against the packers and they were covering brett favre all game long. think it was a primetime game too. lets kick their butts please.
Reliant will be ready, and I'm excited for our first regular season NBC night game. I'd love to see the roof open since it's such a rare chance to play under the stars, but wouldn't mind if it's closed so we can bring the decibels. I'm still sick about losing Cush, but the team doesn't have that luxury in a short week. I'm going to assume that Bradie James assumes Cushing's role and that Dobbins steps in next to James. I think they'll do okay against the run, especially with Cedric Benson out. I am worried about passing downs, since neither one is a positive in coverage and Jermichael Finley is going to test them. McCarthy isn't dumb - he's going to see if that's a soft spot he can exploit across the middle. Packers have allowed the second most sacks in the league so far, while we are tied for 6th in getting them. On paper, that would suggest that we can hold down their vertical game by blowing up the pocket. Again, without their lead RB, the Pack may be even more reliant on their passing game, which makes our job a little bit easier. I'd expect to see plenty of nickel Sunday. Pack D is straight down the line average. I'm personally not that scared of a Clay Matthews, since he's such a rush specialist. AJ Hawk is the guy that makes the play most of the time on this team, so he's the one I want to see pancaked when Foster gets the ball. Ben Tate is back at practice (but limited) - if he can come back and help keep Foster fresh, that'll be our bread and butter. Folks are getting whiney about the lack of passing and big plays....but Kubiak has quietly set us up as the league leaders in Time of Possession, and that's been key to our success so far. Against a Packers offense, I want to see more of the same. It's not just about keeping their offense off the field - it keeps Watt & Co fresh to keep going balls out all the way through the 4th. Cross our fingers that Special Teams doesn't bite us in the rear again. You'd have to think they've gotten the message with the Holliday cut and that Kubiak teared them a new one in the Film room. Go Texans! This won't be as easy as our records suggest, but getting to 6-0 would have this town going nuts!
Texans will cover that spread. I think we win by 10. I have a lot of confidence in our D to overcome the adversity. Can't wait!!!! Hurry up week.
We're definitely catching Green Bay at the right time. They're weak in all the places we're strong. I'm looking for a very solid game from our offense.
Is there any particular reason why you think James will take over Cushing's role as the weak side backer? I assumed that since Dobbins is quicker and more agile than James, he would be the one to take over Cushing's spot since you want your weak side backer to plug any cut-back routes. I could be completely wrong, but that was just what I assumed.
A win over the Packers would be great, but as far as playoff positioning goes, next week's game against the Ravens is more important. If we're going to lose 1 of the next 2, I'd rather it be to GB so that we can have the tiebreaker on Baltimore in case we tie with them at the end of the year. 7-0 would be REALLY sweet though...
I know the talk of GB being "desperate" for a win is what has people worried, but looking at GB's schedule, they are about to go on a run anyway. If they lose to us this week, they'll be 6-4 before their rematch with NYG. (@STL, JAX, ARZ, DET). GB's season is about to turn around. Either they get a loss that really pushes them against the wall, or a win that starts their run of 4-5 wins in a row.
If the Texans do beat the Packers...will Houston get more respect??? Probably not...(oh GB has a lot of key injuries and cant run the ball, etc, etc, etc...) If they beat the Ravens??? Most likely... In regards to the GB game...its gonna be about who has the ball last...its gonna be that close... sidenote: The game i really want to see us win is the Patsies at foxboro... that would mean that we are ready for primetime...

Seems like they were more interested in making sure they didn't give AD any bulletin board material since they still see him twice this year. Haha.
