That was eerily close to a grand slam, but Devo will take it considering how he's pitching lately. That Smith strikeout was pretty legit, though. Hopefully he comes back around to the unhittable guy he was at the start of the season.
Teams are starting to mildly adjust to some of Devo's tendencies. Like most good pitchers, they can sometimes be vulnerable early in the count... and that may be the best pitch the opposing batter sees... so they're attacking it. But with that elite change, he's still going to be lethal. May have to change up the sequencing some.
Well, the Astros nearly pulled off a Baltimore. Runners on 1st and 3rd with nobody out and they score no runs.
MORE DICKSTEPPERY!!!! YAAAAYYY! What a stupid ****ing play by Correa. Worst thing you can do is stop in that situation.
Regarding tonight's game. Hoyt would've been a good option for the 8th and 9th, but glad it worked out. Giles is probably not an option tomorrow, Devo too... I think. Musgrove pitched very well and went 7, so that's really the best thing tonight. Let's close it out. What was Correa thinking getting thrown out? Oh well, the face-guard doesn't seem to be affecting his swing.
And just like that, the Rangers are back to being 9 games back of the Astros again. That's a hell of a way to start to a 3-day weekend.
Rangers just got finished getting smoked by their arch-nemesis from north of the border, so all is well in Astroland. The week they got Bagwell to come to ST and work with the baserunners and with Yuli, it was not enough. I'd get the dude on the next flight from Cabo or Italy or wherever he is and drill these ****ers like LLers the next off day.
