By August, September, doubt an injury to Morton would matter as much. I wasn't expecting a full year from him, but was hoping he would make it to trade deadline.
Throwing to 2nd is literally 180 from throwing to home, which they do every pitch. To have to adjust on the fly from throwing 90-plus to home plate to throwing much more softly to 2nd base probably throws them off. And they're already accustomed to throwing a bit more refined to 1st via pick-off attempts. Plus, I imagine you have that fear that if you **** up, the ball could go way in the outfield, whereas if you overthrow at first, that's not an issue.
This just may be the O's day, they're due for a win. A sweep would be great but at least we won the series.
errors are contagious. Should have been out of the inning with no runs and 15 less pitches, but baseball happened
He'd be a hell of a 4th starter down the stretch (if it matters), if you don't need him in the playoffs he'd be another weapon in the pen at least. That was a ****ing ugly inning. Lance needs to get his **** together. Also, the next time you hear someone say "anyone can play 1B", remember Yuli Gurriel. It takes practice, he'll get there eventually but it's frustrating to watch right now.
He matters more as a 3rd starter now than he would as a 4th later. Also, the healthier this team is now, the less likely they will be too concerned with 4th starter late in year.
