Amazing how that guy will get another job as a qb.

Could this work in the NFL?

Maybe, seems a bit odd, but I think I'd prefer they just move extra points back about 15 yards and call it a day.

Should be able to return a blocked extra point for 2 pts

Either that or just get rid of it all together, that and the 2 pointers. TD is 7 FG is 3.

Apparently 610 is reporting that the Texans are putting its feelers out toward San Diego on a trade for Rivers.

    Cost: 2 first round picks.

    He is 33.

Do you wait for FA or take him now.

I might just take that one.

    "Edit"

It might make sense since reports are that they want Mariota.

Will need some first to jump on up.

    EDIT 2

Now they act like it was just there made up rumor. Feel free to ignore this message all together.

Does 610 have any credibility left after that Wilfork fiasco?

No they don't, but its worth noting as they just went out and signed Vince Wilfork to a two year deal.

a short term deal for a guy that is heading towards retirement but still have a few good years left.

I dont like the sound of that at all. Why would a team ever kick an extra point (unless you are down 7), when you have a chance to get a 2 pt conversion plus an extra point? In other words, if you have a 50% chance of getting the 2 pt conversion, it's a no brainer to go for 2.

I heard it as "would you rather" question this morning with Marc Vandameer, not a rumor.

That was one guy. One guy who's notorious for going out on a ledge with a "report" and being wrong about it.

So then is it safe to assume all this Philip Rivers talk is complete garbage?

I'm assuming it's garbage due to the fact that O'Brien is not dumb enough to give up that much for Philip Rivers.

Just want to clarify that this was something the morning show posed as a hypothetical, not an actual rumor.

I'd give this years 1st and next years 2nd for Rivers, or this years 1st and a player not named Watt.

What's Rivers worth to you then? Established, veteran quarterbacks who have taken their teams to multiple playoff berths don't just grow on trees. Rivers would transform this roster from a giant question mark into a solid, formidable playoff team in the AFC. I think this year's 1st and next year's 2nd gets the conversation started, but ultimately, you'd have to pony up for someone of Rivers' caliber.

2 firsts for an elite QB. Gotta at least think about it.

I just don't see Rivers as a great quarterback as he progresses through his 30's. I think his wheels will fall off at some point. I know that's just an opinion of mine, and doesn't mean much, but because of that opinion, I wouldn't give multiple first round picks for him. I'd give this years 1st and 4th round pick for him. I think that's fair. Dude is 33 years old (I believe), and has a lot of tread on his tires. Also, he doesn't come across as the most mentally tough guy I've ever seen. I think you keep your picks, and roll with the younger guys who know the system. Mallett, who you don't really know what you have, could potentially be almost as good, if not just as good, as Rivers 2 years from now, and doesn't cost you a dime. He's the same type of quarterback, with far less experience, but it's a gamble I'd take.

I know that's not the popular opinion, but someone like Rivers is too rich for us at this juncture. It's not enough reward for what you'd pay.
