WR is just as big a need as ILB. Those are the top two for me. After that, NT and OLB. Mercilus is a decent pass rusher. He played well last year. I agree that Crick is just a guy. He's underwhelmed. If it were me, I'd get a WR in the first or second. I'd get and inside backer in the other. If you were reaching in either round, I'd go for an OLB. Then, BP 3-7.
There's still time to address NT in FA, if they sign someone like Wilfork or even Red Bryant (or both if they can find the money) I think it would solidify the NT/DE spot enough to where you wouldn't have to waste picks on it.
Fully agree. You can't fix every hole through the draft. I hope they address a few spots in FA. They're just going to have to restructure a few contracts, and/or cut some guys to allow for that cap space use.
When Arian is healthy he's well worth that contract tho. But I wouldn't be surprised if they cut him in the last year if he is still having injury problems then.
It's only a matter of time before Foster starts breaking down and or quits football to go meditate in the mountains. And judging by the quarterback situation the Texans will be leaning on the run game for years to come... So why pass up on an all world talent at running back to reach for a question mark player for need. Last year was the year to take a receiver because the writing was on the wall that AJ would be gone. Same thing with Foster this year.
I hate "What Ifs"... but, if we had taken Sammy Watkins last year, what a dynamic receiving corps we would have.

Wilfork is no spring lamb these days but should still give a season or two of good push on that line. If we can keep opposing QB's from stepping up in the pocket, it will keep them exposed in the backfield and feeling uneasy and it will allow our outside rushers to get to the QB a lot easier. Texans will need easier with their paucity of outside rushing potential.
His close friend/agent lives in Houston, whose kids are actually Wilfork's godchildren. It's not strange for him to stick around to spend time with them, so I'm not sure if we can read into his extended stay too much.
Sammy Watkins is actually a great example of why we shouldn't be afraid to draft Gurley. Last year when suggested, the common response was ridicule at the idea of taking a "third reciever" #1 overall. One year later, and we are scrambling for anybody but Nuk. You have to think more than 1 year ahead. Gurley, w/o the knee, would be the best RB prospect in the last 4 years and Foster is gone after this year. We won't have a chance at as good a RB next year.
I wish some updates re: clowney would come out...obviously it's still somewhat early in the rehab game, but hopefully he comes back strong. Seems like ppl are forgetting about him.
The last I heard was encouraging, but I doubt he will ever be anything more than a rusher. But we need rush. I think he will be ready by the start of the season but will likely be eased into it. I'm led to believe Nix will be ready too. He can cycle in with VW hopefully and learn the trade. Wouldn't it be nice if it actually happens that way?
