AOC is gaining weight -- this is undeniable. If she fancies a Presidential run in 2028, at this rate, she might weight 160+ pounds. Her physical appearance helped significantly with the low info voters that she represents. If she loses her sex appeal by porking up, she will lose influence. It's a big deal.

“We should be clear about who Charlie Kirk was,” AOC said, claiming his “rhetoric and beliefs were ignorant, uneducated and sought to disenfranchise millions of Americans.”

Again, my interest in this is (a) NOT in the substance of the resolution to honor Kirk, but rather (b) on Ocasio-Cortez's suitability (or unsuitability) to appeal to and to unite an entire nation as President of the United States.

It seems to me that her remarks here are (c) intemperate and (d) not much better than Hillary Clinton's "basket of deplorables" comment.

So all in all I'd say AOC's presidential campaign is off to a good start.

Trump is not tempered

I would say that maybe temperance is not a winning strategy anymore

I think she has a great shot eventually, but I think 2028 is too soon, and she will still be perceived as too young. If she and the Democratic Party can convince Schumer not to run for re-election in 2028 (he's 74), then I would think she would be a shoo-in for Senator. Serve a term or two as Senator, gain experience, and then I think the time would be right to make the run for the White House.

If Schumer cannot be persuaded to step down, then I think she puts in preliminary ground work to run for President in 2028; will likely not make it all the way to the election; and then she gets another chance to run for Senator in 2030 when Gillibrand's term is up. But I doubt Gillibrand will ever move aside for AOC.

So she's got some work ahead of her. I think the Schumer-stepping-aside scenario is the most likely.

If the Democratic Party was smart, they would tell Schumer to kick rocks and make a big deal out of her becoming a Senator in NY.

However this is the Democratic Party so who knows.

We live in the oddest political time since the 1800’s in America - so I would not laugh or completely write off her becoming President. She has the necessary charisma and I suspect she would play dirty enough.

You “thought we rejected this **** in the last election” - people were saying that after Trump lost to Biden as well. I am always stunned at the myopia of political party supporters… no, policy long term in the USA isn’t settled, nor is it settled that we are headed long term towards a MAGA tinted policy, it is just as likely that there is a back lash and we end up with a more radical left policy. History shows predicting the short and long term future based on the present occupant in power is very foolish.
