Not as much happened as was revealed. The Texans were fool's gold because they had Foster in his prime. Then he got injured, Kubiak and Schaub were exposed, their number one FA acquisition was a bust, Cush got injured (again), their new kicker sucked harder than Lisa Ann, the OL went to pieces, etc. etc. etc.
Bridgewater is unproven against top flight competition. I do not want him. Give me Clowney and then take a LB in the 2nd, and a OL in the 3rd.
This is what I am curious about I thing Texans need to draft a QB [even if only for backup purposes] but If they can trade down and fill up more wholes could be nice too Rocket River The #1 pick could be attractive to a new coach as well
So was Aaron Rodgers...so was Steve McNair... the guys that get paid to do this aren't concerned with win/loss record for a college team...they're looking at mechanics and what they can mold. That's why Bridgewater has been rated so high.
Seems like the best/most successful coaching staffs have traditionally traded down in the draft. Hoodie in particular.
I say clowney in first, then QB in 2nd or 3rd. Or if Mariota doesn't come out this year, then draft him the year after.
Heh, touche. The current regime, maybe maybe no. But doesn't look like they're gonna be around for the next draft...
I do not want Clowney...I don't trust his motor. I don't believe he cares. I think he will be a paycheck player.
Well, even Hoodie didn't know what he had until fortune intervened on Bledsoe. Regardless of Keenum's performance to end the year, it should be an open competition next year. Keenum will be fighting an uphill battle with a new regime either way.
Had Brady not been Brady, I can assure you the Pats would have used a first round pick on a QB, though. I'm all for open competition...and I think if they have the pick of the litter among these QB's, they should take one and let him compete.
no. Rodgers played in pac 10 Mcnair was a freak of nature plenty of examples to the contrary. Anecdotal evidence isn't convincing
Considering that the Patriots are the most notorious team for drafting BPA, I can't say I agree. That team was pretty stacked though, so who knows.
The Patriots are not a model franchise when it comes to drafting. The warts of the Patriots organization have been hidden by an all-time great quarterback.
They seem to be a model franchise for talent evaluation and finding guys who fit their systems. The guys they sign, trade for, or otherwise acquire seem to do well after struggling other places. I can't think off my head how their drafting has gone, but they do tend to cast a wide net each year, which may account for an unusually large number of misses.
Much easier to find guys to fit your system when your all-world QB can make the talent around him look much better than they are anywhere else.
Of course, NE's system hasn't been completely rigid over the years. They changed things up to accommodate new talent from time to time (gronk, hernandez, etc). And they've had multiple hits on defense over the years, too. Although it hasn't always translated to the stat sheet.
