Sure if Haley can run on those while making people forget a lot of what she has done and said since 2016 that would be a tough candidate for Democrats to beat. That's why I said initially she would be formidable. The problem that I'm seeing is that it's going to be hard for her to separate her kowtowing to Trump and embrace of figures like John Hagee.
I agree that Hillary Clinton is an unusual case in many ways that said I don't think opposition even in Republican circles towards a woman Chief Executive is that great. Haley's own two time election shows that and there are many female governors and senators in both parties.
There are a lot of examples even in this thread. Here’s an article on it: https://time.com/6252040/nikki-haley-donald-trump-relationship-history/ John Hagee kicked off Haley’s campaign event. https://www.usnews.com/news/nationa...ikki-haleys-first-presidential-campaign-rally
Democrats grapple with how to take on Nikki Haley https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/3863665-democrats-grapple-with-how-to-take-on-nikki-haley/ excerpt: Democrats have groaned over the campaign return of Donald Trump and have braced for the unknown in an untested Ron DeSantis. But now, in the earliest days of the 2024 presidential cycle, the party in power is facing a new challenge: how to handle Nikki Haley. The former South Carolina governor’s entrance into a wide-open field draws an obvious contrast with Trump, who Republicans have hesitated to take on too soon. For Democrats, it puts them in an unfamiliar spot: defending 80-year-old Biden against a 51-year-old rival hoping to be the first female president. “If you haven’t figured out how to get this octogenarian off the stage, you really don’t know what you’re doing,” said Rina Shah, a Republican strategist and campaign veteran. “You don’t know how to move forward.” Biden has, of course, faced female White House opponents before — the most famous being his own vice president, Kamala Harris, with whom he managed to turn an occasionally bitter rivalry into a partnership in his administration. He also competed against nearly half a dozen other female candidates. When Biden prevailed, for many Democrats it was bittersweet. They saw him beating Trump, but scores still wanted a woman to lead the country. They are now assessing the optics of Haley running against an older white man, and Republicans are also contemplating what it could mean for their own bench. “Gender and race are part of the calculation now because there are only two formally announced people,” Shah said. As Haley tells it, her campaign is not going to emphasize “identity politics,” a term both sides of the aisle use in different ways to highlight personal identifiers. But she’s already made gender and age a part of the early contours of her campaign. In her announcement speech on Wednesday, Haley said tackling global problems “will require doing some things we’ve never done — like sending a tough-as-nails woman to the White House.” At another point, she said, “may the best woman win” the election. Republicans have in the past struggled at appealing to female voters and recruiting more diverse candidates, and Democrats have often jumped at the chance to send more women to higher office. Haley’s bid, just days after newly elected Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders delivered the rebuttal to Biden’s State of the Union, is a clear indication of the GOP’s focus on broadening their candidate pool for higher office. “We’re talking about the presidential primary process. Republicans are actually going to come out looking really diverse at this,” Shah said. For Democrats, it presents a complicated situation. It’s no secret that many in the party want someone other than Biden to be the nominee. Some recent polling indicates that even a majority of Democrats would like an alternative. But many in the party and some close to the administration were quick to defend the president, noting that his agenda and track record supporting people from different backgrounds is what makes him a more compelling choice. more at the link
They will turn out because it makes them believe they are not anti-women and anti-non-white. It's like being not racist because they shoot the **** with the one black person at work.
He's got enough bad soundbites out there to become her Jeremiah Wright. But I don't think this matters to anyone outside of the extremely online.
Democrats grapple with how to take on Nikki Haley/Ted Cruz/Ben Carson/Mike Huckabee/Rick Santorum/Ron Paul. Republicans grapple with how to take on Bernie Sanders/Pete Buttigieg/Elizabeth Warren/Hillary Clinton/Howard Dean. I know we gotta publish articles to get those sweet clicks, but the opposition party isn't losing any sleep over presumptive candidates this early.
Hagee does a pretty good job of toeing the Evangelical Line. What is described as antisemitic is about Prophecy concerning Israel and their falling away from GOD. In truth, it is a sifting of those who call themselves Jews AND ARE NOT who Jesus called the Synagogue of Satan and Messianic Jews who have re-discovered their Messiah in Jesus. Anti Catholic claims mimic the Catholic Synagogue of Satan for Christianity. The same worship of the Traditions of Men over the Revelation of GOD. He is not fringe unless you are deluded into thinking Evangelicals are fringe. ps We are called Evangelicals because our mission was to Evangelize the World with the Good News that GOD has found a way to be both just and merciful.
They'd be fine with a minority female as VP or down ballot. It seems impossible to me the republican base, in the privacy of the ballot box, will pick a minority female for the top job when there is a white male available.
You should narrow yours. Why do you dismiss the Greatness of Women in their natural role? ie Help meet, not doormat.
I agree. You only need 5-10% of the Rs to abandon the ticket to lose the race. As an example, a small percentage of Rs abandoned Trump in Georgia and Arizona, in 2020.
https://www.ancient-hebrew.org/studies-interpretation/what-is-a-help-meet.htm While help (helper) is little disputed and the key to role, meet has several possible meanings and interpretations based more on modern definitions of equality meaning sameness or difference vs completeness. My choice is completeness.
Counting has much more to do with it than messaging. BTW, can we take this to Patriots.win? That's where I thought this was.
