Football philosophy question. TB just scored and kicked the extra point while down 9 with 5 minutes 30 seconds remaining (going to -8). Don't you want to go for 2 so you have more information while you still have a chance to act upon it?
Redskins facing a similar situation (19-9) just went for 2, but with only 1 minute remaining. Yes, I know I just quoted myself.
Redskins had to go for 2 to get within 8 points. Tampa had to kick the PAT to get within 8 points. Teams will always take the option that makes it a 1-score game, so no, you do not go for 2 late in the game if failure means you are down by more than 8.
First drive of the game was pure beauty by Rivers. You can tell this team is playing with a chip on their shoulders.
I thought it might be a magical day for Rivers and the Chargers. But the Packers answer with a TD and a pick-6 already. If the Chargers get too far behind, this game could get ugly.
Something is really wrong with Rivers. WTF. Bench his ass until his head clears. This trend is very disturbing.
YES! Teams should absolutely do that, but they consistently don't. They feel it's better to think that they are in the game for now than to know that they are going to need two scores if they fail. Extremely stupid unless you believe that, for whatever reason, your two point try is more likely to be successful later than now.
