and they didnt take one shot in the endzone lol, Kyle is trying to get Griffin killed with these qb runs smh
And they've clearly been scouted to take them out of that comfort zone... very similar to what has happened with Houston. Perhaps the ZBS can no longer function without the use of cut blocking.
that 2nd down play is why i hate kyle shanahan, he draws up impossible fancy plays that have like a 15% success rate smh...
Just a few thoughts on that NE NO game...that was so fun just watching what a real freaking QB and a coach with balls can do for a football team...The Patriots play with sense of confidence that oozes from Bellichick all the way down to that kid Thompkins(catching the game winning TD)... Their players had so many dropped passes; but even after going for it 4th and 3 at the Patriots 25 yard line...with about 2:30 left and 2 Time outs, Coach Bellichick trusted his team to only give up a FG and expected Tom freaking Brady to march his butterfinger WR core down the field for a game winning TD. Imagine if something like this ever happened in the city of Houston. Ever.
A lot of the open passes down the field RG3 had last year was a result of his scrambling ability. Before today, he hasn't looked good scrambling, probably due to getting comfortable with the knee and the lack of the preseason. As far as Morris goes, they've been in such huge 2nd half deficits that there's not the same opportunities for a slow, methodical pounding ground game. RG3 looks much more comfortable today. They aren't quite executing and are making too many mistakes, but he looks more like he did last year.
I'm not sure it's as much that as the offense is predicated on RG3 being a dual threat and he just didn't look right the first several weeks. He's looking much more like himself today and I think it will make a huge difference going forward. They will still struggle because their defense and apparently special teams suck, but I think their offense will get back to being dynamic again.
I just don't see much accuracy out of the passing game, very few wide open guys, and very few holes created for the running game. Sure, if the offense is based on RG3 running around creating plays by himself, it would be pretty hard for the coaching to screw that up... but the system itself has been lacking in production this year as well.
But the holes in the running game are predicated on having to deal with the threat of RG3 running, as are some of the deep passes, which result from RG3 scrambling around until someone breaks free. Without that, RG3's still a young QB that *shouldn't* be leading an offense as good as Brees, Manning, or Brady. They were only in that stratosphere because of the threat of his running. Without him being fully healthy the first month (and the lack of a training camp), that wasn't there. You see lots of flashes of it today, though currently still mixed in with a lot of mistakes.
As an example, on this drive, the problem wasn't the playcalling. RG3 missed a wide open Garcon for a huge crossing route. He missed an easy pass into the flat, and then he threw the bizarre endzone INT. These are just mistakes he's making - he's making a lot of great plays and a lot of bad ones right now, things that you'd think would improve with time - but until it does, the team isn't going to look good.
for me Brady is so much better than Manning, and the stats would prove me wrong, but looking the WRs that Brady has to play with, its amazing, that last drive was incredible. And im still impressed that the NE defense shut down Jimmy Graham, the best TE in the game right now. he had a 5 game streak with +100 yards and 1 or more TD.
Completely agree. Brady is so much more talented than Manning. Manning hasn't ever had a bad receiving core or even a bad run game to go with his skills. Brady makes plays happens out of nothing. Most of his teammates go down and he still finds a random player to make plays for him.
it's a catch 22 for the Redskins: RGIII can have some success if he's able to run, but he's going to get injured...and the NFL has figured out how to defend the read option, which is why many of the wonder QB rookie class have come crashing back to earth this year. RGIII looked like a rag doll on some of those hits. However, if you try to turn RGIII into a pocket passer, he becomes very average, very quick.
Brady is just so unbelievable in the clutch. He has the arm, the smarts and the intangibles. His record speaks for itself.
Denver is not the "perfect" team anymore. Their defense have big holes, that's how they lost to Ravens last year. The offensive line looks like it could be handled at times as well. Denver Kansas City should be interesting in a few weeks. Colts could possibly beat them at home next week.
Don't believe anyone thought they were perfect. Just think that Manning is playing perfectly. Their defense gave up 48 points the week before. But Manning will carry them to the Super Bowl this year. Not sure if they win but no doubt they will be there. Kansas City's defense is solid and Reed can manufacture points but i don't see KC putting up enough points to hang with Denver in a playoff game. Nor do i see KC's defense putting up a shut out. Ravens went on a miracle run. Didn't matter who they faced.
