Manning, like Brady, has great pocket presence and moves very well inside the pocket to avoid rushers whereas Schaub pretty much goes fetal position any time someone gets close.
Meh, the best QBs are still not really mobile. There is a difference between RG3, Wilson, vick, and Brees and Rogers. Brees would run if it is necessary. the other guys too. But they mainly stay in the pocket. The best QBs are still mostly pocket QBs.
lmao are you saying brady rodgers brees arent mobile? why do you keep assuming you have to be a RGIII to be called "mobile"
Luck is also not a statue, Luck and Rodgers are dual-threats as well statue qb's are basically qb's who can only throw
Because there is a huge difference between RG3, Wilson, Kaepernick and Brees or Rogers. They aren't running the ball unless they need to. Yes that includes pocket awareness, but those guys are closer to Manning/Brady than they are those other QBs who actually have run plays designed for them.
Kind of like playing from shotgun. Or spreading the field. Why on earth would a QB that can do everything a stationary QB can do but also run be a "fad"?
There's a much bigger difference between Brees and Rogers than Rogers and Wilson. Brees has negligible rushing stats - never had 100 yards in a season and averages less than 2 ypc. Rogers regularly has 200-400 yards and averages close to 5 ypc. Wilson last year had almost 500 yards at 5ypc.
I don't think you'd define mobile by rushing stats. I'd define it as the ability to consistently escape the pocket and buy time to throw. Guys like Brees, Romo, Big Ben. Plenty mobile.
Rogers is closer to Elway which is a lot more traditional than what Wilson does. Wilson can have a run play designed for him, almost had 100 attempts at running last year, ran over 400 yards last year. Rogers has never rushed over 400, usually around 50 attemps...it's very similar to Elway. It's nothing like Wilson, Kaepernick, or what RG3 did last year. Yes Rogers is a dual threat in that if the play breaks down or he's rolling out...he's a threat to run...but he's not running the ball from the backfield either.
True - but I think there's a separate level of mobility when you can both escape the pocket and then gain yards when there's no one open or if the play breaks down.
Nah, that's not a overreaction at all. Vick has been done for awhile ago now. The only reason he's a starter (because he lost the job last year) is because Chip Kelly wanted to bring his gimmicky offense to the NFL.
