Still some decent guys on the board: S - Etric Pruitt, Southern Miss WR - BJ Johnson, Texas WR - Sloan Thomas, Texas OG - Alan Reuber - Texas A&M DE - Kalen Thornton - Texas WR - Wes Welker - Texas Tech OG - Carlos Joseph - Miam TE - Ben Utecht - Minnesota ...and a bunch of Kansas St guys like: S - Rashad Washington LB - Bryan Hickman LB - Josh Buhl WR - James Terry
Come on... I do hope we pick up Sloan though. I'm also curious to see if Welker makes it somewhere. He doesn't have the measurements, but he's a player.
Anyone seen Jason Geathers from Miami? Manny? Maybe we could pick him up, sounds sort of interesting.
So, as it turns out, the Texans/Titans trade was: Texans get: Jason Babin, Jammal Lord and Raheem Orr Titans get: Ben Troupe, Randy Starks, Bo Schobel and Jacob Bell
That was a different Geathers. This one is a receiver from Miami. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/2004/draft/breakdowns/by_position/wr.html
I was just going off the Yahoo NFL draft board, which had Jason Geathers, a WR from Miami, being taken in the 4th rd by Cincy. So, if I'm wrong it's because of the Yahoo site. I do see that he's not listed as being drafted yet on that cnnsi link. Weird stuff. One of them has to be wrong....
Somebody at Yahoo! must've made a mistake. The Bengals took Robert Geathers - DE - Georgia in the 4th round.
Well, I hated Casserly giving up those picks, but overall, it didn't turn out too bad: Rd 1 - Pick 10 - DUNTA ROBINSON (CB) SOUTH CAROLINA Rd 1 - Pick 27 (from Tennessee) - JASON BABIN (DE) WESTERN MICHIGAN Rd 4 - Pick 122 (from Indianapolis) - GLENN EARL (S) NOTRE DAME Rd 6 - Pick 170 - VONTEZ DUFF (CB) NOTRE DAME Rd 6 - Pick 175 (from Jacksonville) - JAMMAL LORD (RB) NEBRASKA Rd 6 - Pick 200 (Compensatory) - CHARLIE ANDERSON (LB) MISSISSIPPI Rd 7 - Pick 210 (from Jacksonville) - RAHEEM ORR (DE) RUTGERS Rd 7 - Pick 211 - SLOAN THOMAS (WR) TEXAS Rd 7 - Pick 248 (Compensatory) - BRIAN (B.J) SYMONS (QB) TEXAS TECH
man, i know our later picks better than our first 2. in fact i had never heard of either of the first two guys despite spending a good portion of my fall saturday's planted on the couch watching cfb. casserly sticking to the big xii and taking 2 more qb's at the end. i thought bj johnson was supposed to be a borderline 1st dayer. did that bad workout really do all that damage (and wasn't he injured anyway)?
Kneejerk reactions.... this couldn't be further from the truth. Vs. "major" programs And that doesn't even count teams like Miami of OH, Toledo, Bowling Green & Northern Illinois, each of whom has had better seasons or knocked off a lot of major conference teams in the last few seasons. Hell, look at Jason Taylor, one of the best pass rushers in the game, and a product of Akron.
