    Couldn't have been the #32 pick. That would've been a 1st rounder.

Not that #34 is all that further down, but I imagine the thought was that it was going to be in the #50s. Who knew the Raiders were a bunch of quitters (just a little dig to get under moe's skin).

It's only in retrospect that it's as bad as it seems. At the time, it didn't seem quite as bad. Hollings was certainly better thought of than he's turned out (and Davis has been better than anyone thought) and the Raiders were far worse than anyone thought they would be.

Exactly. Joppru was a project even before he got hurt.

Most people projected Hollings as a 3rd round supplemental pick. Casserly was defending the pick by saying Hollings wouldnt have been available as Dallas and a few other teams wouldve taken him.

Of course all this wouldve been moot if we hadn't passed on Clinton Portis.

The Titans got a huge gift.

I am very dissapointed in this pick and the worst part is that we help out a salary strapped division rival by helping them load up on picks

**** Callahan... and if Gallery is our reward for being a bunch of quitters, then long live the quitters.

That's what I'm saying. So many picks for the #27? Obviously, an impact player isn't going to be taken here, so what the hell?

Every time it was suggested the Texans move up to the #5, someone would say that they're still a building team and they can't afford to lose picks - this totally goes against that.

Please prove us doubters wrong Babin and Casserly.

Joppru would have been a diamond in the rough had he not been injured.. its a game of chance..

on the other hand, Babin led the nation in tackles for loses and had 15 sacks the past 2 seasons.

Also they did play good competition last year
    Virginia
    Toledo
    Northern Illinois
    Marshall
    Bowling Green
    Michigan State

he was being double and triple teamed last year on a poor W. Michigan team but still found a way to get 15 sacks

He looks like a beast and a hard worker, you'll never have to question his effort.. The Texans seem to go for good character not just athleticism and talent.

Also Babin was going to be gone by the end of the 1st.
    New England wanted him bad.

Thats why Casserly built two Super Bowl champions.

What a shocker that you would disagree with a management decision.....................

    That's very true.

It's a puzzling trade/pick for sure, and the Texans have made several puzzling picks in their short history.

Too soon to know, in my opinion, whether Casserly's actions are the work of a genius or a madman (or both).

Anyone else think the draft coverage is poor this year. They are doing a terrable job of talking about trades. They just mention what was given up casually 10 minutes after it happend with no explanation .

Hey maybe we'll draft another QB in the 3rd round. Doesn't Casserly think that you can never have enough QBs?

Charlie Casserly is a senile old fart who needs to take his medication.

And took players like Heath Shuler.

Im disagreeing on the merits of the pick. Are you saying we didn't overpay for this?

What a shocker you are defending management.

You are the biggest brown noser on this BBS - so right in character with your usual posts.

Whoa...someone who knows what he's talking about. Everyone always wants to question front offices, but it's pretty damn hard in the NFL. I think Casserly have proven enough to not freak out over a 3rd and 4th rounder.

So who actually does a good job? I'm sure there's stuff to complain about with every team.

I'm saying this is a weak draft after the 1st day.
There might be a few ok guys in the later rounds but overall little quality. This looks more like Dom Capers picks.

So why not get the guy you have been obviously targeting that gives us depth at both OLB and some DE.

Some other deals after we traded for #27:

    Falcons get #29 and #69
    for
    #38, 90, 125

    Lions get #30
    for
    #36, 105 and 5th next year

    compared to

    Texans get #27 and 159
    for
    #40, 71, 103, 138

If they really wanted Babin, looks like there were some better deals out there.

Depth is the key. You need multiple picks to add depth.

A 3rd and 4th round pick to move up 13 slots in the late 1st /early 2nd round is ridiculous.

We have continuously reached for players in the last few drafts.

If we were going to give up all these picks, we shouldve tried to move up in 1st round for a impact player.
