Yup... Lin & Amare need the D'Antoni offense to be successful. Carmelo needs a half court centric offense to be successful. Something has to give. (My friend Daryl can help you with that...)
So glad we didn't get this loser, can you imagine if Morey had given up half the team for this chump?? Carmelo is one of the worst I have ever seen thinking everything should be given to him without giving the effort. Almost T-mac like.
A lot of us said Melo and Amare wouldn't mix. To be most effective, Amare needs the PG to run the offense. But Melo insists on being the centerpiece or he feels left out. This is why Steve Nash going to the Knicks wouldn't solve all of their problems unless Melo ate humble pie and agreed to play off the ball regularly. This latest Melo stuff is just pressure to get D'Antoni fired, which I believe is imminent. Knicks must allow another coach (Woodson) to try and make it work and then make decisions over the summer.
there's a lot to be said for chemistry. it's no coincidence that ever since Melo returned they've been losing. Melo's got an ego and he can't stroke it by letting Lin run the show.
But they lack a closer now.... They suck in close games now, whereas before they winning most of them with Roy. That's been the major difference. That and Felton showed up out of shape and ruined their PG rotation strategy because he has vastly underperformed
It's more than that. Roy completely dominated their lockerroom. In fact, he WAS their lockerroom. Nate McMillan has never been the most communicative coach with players, but he had a symbiotic relationship with Roy, who kept everyone else in line. IMO, the Blazers miss Roy's leadership more than his talent on the floor. The spurted out to a good start, but when it went dry, it went dry. I doubt McMillan coaches there beyond this season. He's completely lost the players. As proven over the last couple of weeks, not closing games isn't the real problem.
Random trade proposal for this summer: 1. Melo, Shumpert and Douglas traded to the Lakers for Kobe Bryant (who waives his no trade clause). 2. The Zenmaster comes out of retirement to coach the Knicks.
