The NBA is pretty adamant about multiple video game products being out there. Also EA was trying to buy 2K Sports about a year ago but it never panned out. Its dead.
Pre-ordered mine online through Gamestop.. it arrives on Thursday... I can't WAIT........ to kick some asses online.
Just played it for the first time. Not a fan of the new setup with the screens, navigation and what not. Otherwise I love it. Plus, it's DEFINITELY weird seeing T-Mac sporting #3! Not really the game's fault on that one, just not used to it.
There is major frame rate issues. 2k is working on a fix and should be patched up by tonight or tomorrow is what they said on their website.
How is T-Mac in the game? Is it still easy to make it look easy with McGrady. I remember last year after all the updates, I still dominated with McGrady. Is it slower then last year? Better or worse then 2K9? Worth the 60 bucks?
It's still definitely a must-buy. They've just tinkered with the navigation screens and what not, that's all. The actual game play seems fairly similar. The player ratings stink (as usual) -- especially for the Rockets. Yao is an 83, T-Mac 77, Scola 73, Brooks 71. According to this game Caron Butler is better than Yao -- yeah, okay. There's some other notable unjustifiable brain farts: Dirk is only an 83, David West a 78, Kevin Martin 77, Tony Parker 84, Nash 80, Amare 82, Durant 82, etc. Defense will take a little getting used to. First game I played Rockets vs. Knicks and got dominated by Jared Jeffries. Still easy to play the passing lanes, though. You can still be a ball magician with T-Mac -- don't worry. Overall, I'm very satisfied so far. Changes on a yearly basis are only natural. You'll get used to them.
I get McGrady and Ariza confused in the game. McGrady is pretty bad. Extremely slow. Cannot elevate or blow by defenders. So umm... accurate. I like the ratings. Poor ratings do not necessarily equate to poor play. Yao at an 83 is the 2nd highest rated center in the game. So there is a uniformity to things. Yao can't help that he isn't as versatile as Butler thus the ratings are more forgiving to Butler. 2K is moving more and more away from ratings and focusing more on the 82games.com tendencies.
Ehh, I think the versatility and uniformity that you speak of is accidental. Athleticism seems to sways the ratings which is why Dwight is astronomically higher than "unathletic" bigs that are on or close to his level like Dirk, Yao and Gasol. Amare and Bosh (for example), who are athletic, don't seem to have the overall package that the aforementioned have so that could be the difference in the athletic vs. athletic disparity. As for uniformity: Nash is like the 10th or 11th best PG on the game. There are bench players ranked higher than Kevin Martin and David West. Dirk is one of the best players in the league and he's low 80's. But yeah, like you said a lower-than-expected rating doesn't necessarily translate to bad play and NO ratings system is an exact science. I don't really have a problem with it as it's the norm with the NBA 2k basketball series.
Might I add: I am VERY disappointed that the game makers couldn't copy Sam Young's ridiculous pump fake onto the game. Thabeet is my new whipping boy til about 3-4 years down the line when he's out of basketball.
How does the Rockets rookies look like in the game, cause usually 2nd rounders and undrafted rookies they get lazy and it would look like they would just paste their face on a body, that looks nothing like theirs in real life
Amare was unstoppable in last year's edition. Hold down turbo, drive to the rim, and he'd dunk or get fouled every time. Plus, his mid-range was unbelievable. It's all about the pump fake.
Haven't been able to connect to the servers to import my Draft Combine player. Getting a little frustrated about that.
