Seems to be some "cheating" program which you can use to modify values stored in memory for a game. Think you could use it to modify your players attributes, among other things. Though obviously that REALLY would be cheating, as opposed to just tweaking the settings to your liking. I followed the instructions in that post, and it went pretty smoothly. I guess I was the only one that seems to prefer upping the My Player minutes than reducing the Sim minutes (though I upped it to 10 minutes...and probably should go to 8 minutes actually...scores are a bit high). edit: Forgot that the post doesn't actually link to Tsearch. I just Googled for it.
That is PC only though right? I still have not dunked it....and my rating is only 50 overall......but I am nails from midrange on in...and have maxed on all the skills drills. I wish there was a little more info on how to improve quickness etc. DD
I'm really frustrated at how you can edit the quarter lengths, I'm stuck playing 5 minute quarters. Even though I'm rated at 48, I've already beaten out T.J. Ford for his starting position 14 games into the season lol. After summer league I managed to get an invite from every team in the league (more or less) but I went for the Pacers thinking there wouldn't be as much competition. But now I only get to play at max 20 minutes a game, while everybody else plays the full 48!
So, is there anyway to have the announcer / commentator say a name? Does it have to be a very common name? I hate having to use nick names. If I don't use a nick name they say #11 when I make a shot. A baseball game I bought last year for PS3 had the ability to say my name lol. Just hoped this game would too. If not, somewhere I could select something that sounds like it.
I think if you there is another player in the league with your first name, and a different one with your last, in other words, both of your names being available they will announce it. Mine gets announced and my kids love it.....as do I. DD
Right. It is a hack more or less, not something VC added to the PC version or anything. Can anyone comment on whether you can change quarter lengths if you bought the Draft Combine DLC? I thought I read you could, but I don't know if that is true (I didn't...not even sure that came out on the PC). My player doesn't dunk very much, and he's 6' 10". One game, I think I tried to dunk 3-4 times in a row, which surprised me (of course, he missed one). My dunk and vertical skills are pretty low, although I'm trying to put more points to them. Always get frustrated when I try to dunk on a breakaway fast break, and he just lays it up (and once in a while...misses). Been trying to work on my midrange game, but it just hasn't trasnlated to games yet. IIRC, I have 80+ in medium range and shoot in traffic, but I still miss most of my open midrange shots. Don't know if they have to be even higher, or if I need to up other attributes (consistency, offensive awareness, etc.). Can't you improve quickness via the attribute? Costs a lot of skill points though. PC version is the superior version of course. And all for $20 (or less if you used Amazon plus discounts). Might even get the patch sooner, although I bet VC will probably wait to release it when the console versions are ready (or maybe even later...but maybe we'll have fan-made patches). Probably not a common name then. They definitely do try to say the name. They say mine, and I think someone mentioned this earlier in the thread (may have been DaDakota). edit: I think it goes a bit further than that actually. My last name is somewhat common, although apparently not common enough for any active NBA players (or coaches) AFAIK. But they say it in the game.
I got them to say my name, although the pronunciation is exactly the same as David Lee. Mine's Branton Li, but I've never heard them say Branton, only Li.
So, the new update came out yesterday. You can finally change your quarter length settings in My Player Mode. Just go to presentation and change quarter length. I just wish that you would be able to change the difficulty. It's ridiculous how I'm an overall 62 and I'm averaging 20.4 points in 5 minute quarters. Is anyone having any problems yet?
I know they announced the patch but does anybody know when it's actually going to be released? I've been holding off from playing this game/starting myplayer because I'm waiting for the patch to fix the little problems.
Patch is out but doesnt help me. My player mode is stuck in the off-season, just frozen. Horrible. I restarted and got the clone glitch. The patch did help that though, but still sucks.
The patch is out, I got it the other night. The main thing I wanted it for was to adjust the length of the quarters in MyPlayer mode, and I have achieved that. I have played through my first season with the Bucks, which was brutal, to say the least, almost the worst team in the league. In the off season I signed with the Magic and they won the tittle last year, I'm averaging 28, 4, 3, 1, and 1 this year. It is much more fun playing on a winning team, all the losses in Milwaukee were excruciating. The patch allowed me to switch the quarter length to 8 minutes, so the final scores are getting up to around 100, much better than scoring 30 out of the 50-60 final, before the length switch.
You have to clear your cache and start all over again. Old saves and old profiles will still encounter bugs from before.
Unless it went out recently (last 48hrs?), I think Sony has yet to approve it (or 2K was/is late on submitting it for approval). PC patch is a "couple weeks" away IIRC. And it will probably be that way in another couple of weeks. Glad I effectively only paid ~$7 for the game IIRC. Otherwise, I'd be pretty mad, especially since it sounds like the patch didn't come close to fixing everything.

Got the patch on the 360, it sped the game play up a lot, changed some of the way the rewards were done....still getting used to it... DD
