I'll kill someone if that's the case!! I'm through 65 games in regular season with the Kings, I'm averaging 19.5 ppg, 1.8 steals, 2 assists, 2 blocks and 1.6 steals. Played in Rookie vs Sophomore, and been player of the month once and player of the week twice. Overall 64... And yet, Kings are 14th in the West... Kevin Martin is jackin shots like Ron Artest...
check this out...i played the lakers in my 2nd regular season meeting with them and it was neck to neck, must have exhanged leads like 15 times, and it was tied at the end with 23 seconds left, aaron brooks got doubled up bc he was killing them the whole game, he dished it out to ariza who had someone on him as the clock ran down to 2 seconds left, he jacks up a long range jumper and drains it just as the buzzer goes off, and luis scola throws his hands up in the air and goes to high five ariza so far Scola is the leading scorer after 10 games avg. 18ppg, then it's Aaron brooks at 15ppg and ariza around 14ppg. So i dont really have a go to guy, one thing that's not too realistic but good is that brooks is leading the league in assist with 13 pg!
I've gotten around to actually playing regular games and not My Player and a few things: 1. Alley-oops. Good god, I never want to see another alley-oop again for the rest of my basketball watching life. The things cannot be blocked at all, and you'll see about 6 to 7 per game. 2. Jump shots in general. Maybe it's just playing with Yao and Houston, but I find it more productive to give it to Yao in the paint and let him battle three guys than to throw it up to McGrady or Ariza for an open jumper that'll inevitably clank. Brooks will make them, but the other two are just arrrggghh. Budinger is fairly fun to play with, as well as Mensah-Bonsu, but Taylor and Hayes are utterly useless.
17 pages is going to take a while to read. so i am just going to ask; hows everyone that plays "my player" mode doing? are you guys with a NBA team, d-league?
http://www.operationsports.com/forums/nba-2k/ Download a good set of sliders and read what settings to adjust. They are still trying to figure out a good way to lower PiP (points-in-paint) and make teams and players play more authentic to their styles but I think they have already dealt pretty well with things like alley oops, sliding and jumpshots. Look for a patch announcement tomorrow.
Just check the last 4 pages, many have described how they are doing. My player (6"8 PF) is the sixth man with the Rockets. I average about 9 points (60% FG) and 7 reb 1.7 assists. He made the team from training camp. Ratings still somewhere in the 40.
If you play like a douchebag, yeah. Hopefully they address the ease of scoring in the paint in the upcoming patch.
Ok tried the My Player mode, one quick observation don't make hybrid or combo players and expect to get far in this game. Meaning its a mistake to make a 6'3 shoot first pg or 6'8 athletic PF. Go with the the normal mold of each position and you'll have more success. PG should be 6'2 with handling and passing skills beforehand, SG need to be atleast 6'6 with 3 point range, SF should 6'8 athletic, PF 6'10 inside scorer, Center 7'0 defense and rebounder.
I'm a 6'7" PF. Overall 56. Made the Rockets team from Summer League and am starting by the 15th game now. About 30 games into the season. This is such a fun mode. Yao My Player Ariza T-Mac Brooks
Patch notes are out. Seems it will be at least a few weeks before it is released however. http://www.2ksports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=241487
Dang this MY Player mode is addictive, I went through summer league and half the D-league before I realized you could edit height, my guy was a 6'3" point forward...and getting owned on the glass. So, I am now a ripped 6'9" 222 pound SF/point forward, and just got signed by the Bucks to a 10 day contract....I am nailing from the midrange, and pass like a mother scratcher.... Now, I need to work on my 3pters and get my dunking going.....so far, I am like Luis Scola, I have not even touched the rim. My plan is to go to the Rockets next year..... And did anyone else put their REAL NAME in as their character name? It is AWESOME hearing the announcer saying your real name over the loud speaker. There are some faults......in the rankings etc as to how to move up, but overall, very challenging and a blast to play. BTW - 2K is not getting bought by EA......EA is short of cash right now....and 2K is killing....."The Ballad of Gay Tony" comes out soon too....woot. DD

Fixed a soft hang on an inbound where the inbounding player would miss the ball handoff from the referee. Plays will no longer break when the user strays slightly from the intended path. Both User/CPU alley-oop success has been toned down such that only realistic attempts should now be completed. Assists should now only be credited to the passer at appropriate times. Only 1 timeout is deducted from the total when the CPU calls a timeout for the user. The CPU should no longer pass the ball to a teammate when the recipient has a foot out of bounds. Bad passes should be less inaccurate now. They still happen with similar frequency, but some passes can be recovered now. CPU players now have better logic behind their turbo energy management (which will keep them fresher for key moments in the game). Fixed a case where the PG would run in a circle (in anticipation of receiving the ball) in the backcourt during transitions. Players should no longer get stuck in the post in a single player hold-ball animation (often leading to a 24-second violation) when trying to drive to the basket. Fixed an issue where the user was unable to give certain players their player-specific animation packages. Fixed an issue with a baseline layup where opposing defenders weren’t able to create contact when the animation played out. Addressed a specific dunk animation that would sometimes not result in a made basket despite a successful dunk. The user should now notice more over-the-back calls on rebounds when the boxed out player attempts a rebound. Improvements to the ‘walk the dog’ inbounds play including increased velocity on the inbound. A good number of other changes aimed towards increasing user satisfaction have also been made in this release. These will be apparent as you play the game (ex. The referee will now utilize a bounce pass rather than a chest pass when passing the ball to the shooter during free throw situations, plays will now start quicker when the user manually calls a play, etc.). PRESENTATION: During NBA Today/Association games, the ‘Upcoming Schedule’ overlay will no longer obstruct gameplay. Fixed an issue where the substitution overlay would sometimes briefly cover the action on the court. Blank overlays should no longer quickly appear/disappear during gameplay. ONLINE: Improved performance and stability for all online game types. Corrected an issue in Team-Up play where all players would sometimes see the same player (PG) listed in all substitution slots. Ranked game difficulty has been changed to SuperStar for Team-Up games. Removed the spotlights for online play only to improve performance during stoppages of play. Corrected an issue with the My Player Pick-Up games that would sometimes cause games to diverge upon initiation. Fixed an issue in private matches with friends where all users would disconnect when attempting to play a second game. Fixed an issue where games in online leagues would diverge if users made changes to the default roster. Addressed an issue where completed ranked games would sometimes not report the results to the server. MY PLAYER: Fixed an issue that would cause a clone of the user’s player to be created when changing teams at the end of the Summer Circuit. Existing cloned players will be removed with this patch. Tuned the substitution logic such that users should no longer be substituted out only to be substituted in at the next dead ball. The logic that determines whether or not you get an invite to Training Camp, make the NBA team, and get an invite from an NBA team while in the NBA D-League have all been changed to be a little more forgiving. Resolved an issue where the 2K Insider was not informing the user of his/her contract status at the conclusion of a 10-day contract. Fixed a rare case that would cause a hang during the offseason following a My Player season. Animation packages will no longer be reset to the ‘best’ package every time a corresponding attribute is upgraded. The user’s ‘Drills Remaining’ value will now be properly saved as new drills are accumulated throughout the NBA/D-League season. Corrected an issue where users were able to continue drafting players once the NBA Draft had ended. Users should no longer have an obstructed view of the court when performing Development Drills. Users should no longer be able to see the overall rating of players during the NBA Draft. Corrected an issue where backloaded contracts were getting incorrectly multiplied in the latter years of the contract. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
