Optics would be horrible if they did it preemptively, but if Framber caused a stink, I think others wouldn't frown upon it as much from the industry perspective. I don't see the benefit for Framber to demand a trade unless he's willing to forego his pending free agency and negotiate an extension with the team he was traded to avoid potential injury as he finishes up the year. Seems like he'd do better in an open market.
Seems more of a vent/heat in the moment type comment… and I too was surprised Bell was able to score so easily given the type of contact. Framber actually seems pretty damn comfortable in this clubhouse here (which may have further led to the comfort in “venting” in this situation). For somebody who has a history of some mental instabilities… not sure he’d gladly take a mid-season trade to a baseball Siberia market (although nowadays, every veteran has a friend on every team).
Framber would be going to a contender. He would garner a huge return even as a rental. Which contender has the best minor league talent available?
The staff isn't injuring players, they are protecting them though, and are IMHO (non-medical) way too cautious. Guys with Pena's injury in the 80s and 90s would have been back within 2 weeks.....you aren't going to get worse by playing with it, it is a pain tolerance deal. We just coddle them now, and hold them out forever. Now guys like Alvarez who hurt themselves by just swinging a bat, you just have to hope and pray. There might be something to the way we are teaching our pitchers though, as we have had like 6 TJ surgeries in the last 5 years. DD
A team in first place at the deadline trading away their ace would be ridiculed around the league, and rightly so. It wouldn't be brave, it would be cowardice and capitulation. May as well trade away all the older guys and start the rebuild. Seattle and Texas fans would love it if we got rid of Framber.
True...it won't happen. Team has too many injuries to make it work. I just checked....Yordan...."no timeline for a return.... He's swinging at 60-65% intensity." Meyers....No timeline listed on return. Esock..."out for a while". Pena starts rehab for Triple-A Sugar land today. He should just rehab with the Astros. Can't be any worse then what they have in the lineup now. Maybe a trade would help, but I wouldn't bank on getting anyone significant. Who are they going to give up to get them? Edit: I'm not even thinking about the pitching side. Alexander starts tonight. He's 1-1 w/an 8.14 ERA. WAR -0.5. He's so bad the A's released him.
You seem like an terrible human being. Drugging people up unnecessarily so they can live through pain and entertain you while doing long-term damage to their health is a truly awful expectation.
Not only this. The investment in these players is magnitudes greater. Much greater risk to the owners and the players.
Not if it were for a package that includes Skenes. Just being devis advocate. This is not a serious post.
I know we can't trade Framber, that may look like were giving up, but the truth is unless they're going to pay him, they have to find an off ramp at some point. I have ZERO faith they will pay him what he is worth and that's a long-term deal to be your Ace for the next 5 years or so. The one caveat is that everyday players outpace pitchers' salaries..................so I don't see Framber getting Kyle Tucker money, but he could potentially set the marker for SP.......I am not sure $40 mill per year for 5 years would do it Who are the highest-paid MLB starting pitchers in 2025? This deadline is the only off ramp. Either we are all in on this year and make trades or we lose him in a futile effort for nothing. Only the Astros know about the true injury situation and whether we have a realistic chance this year. If not we should get a haul even if it’s to Seattle. Unlikely I know, but if are stuck with 3 or 4 aaa players by in our lineup, we won’t even make the postseason.
Based on current season data, Dubon should be batting either 3rd, 4th, or 5th according to the book. Tough lineup right now.
Pretty sure DaDa just told us all he's never played a contact sport in his life. Cracked ribs are terrible to come back from. And yes, it can linger if you f*** with it before it's fully healed. Every little thing that's normal in your life hurts...like breathing or if someone makes you laugh...or you sneeze...or cough...or move. But yeah, come back before it's healed because a couple a33hole fans aren't happy.
