What did they say exactly? Was it based on something they heard or just their own speculation? What could we possibly give up?
said that a few days ago...to me (esp. in the years past when he's proved capable of knocking some out of the park), he's the absolutely perfect bench guy a team could have. he's had a pretty cool little career. a true unsung, under-the-radar pro.
Word. It ain't his fault he's being asked to do more. I'd say he's done an admirable job this season given his actual abilities.
Just speculation, but they said that its clear that the astros are gonna be a thorn in St. Louis' side through the rest of the season, and that now is the perfect time to get a trade done....JUST SPECULATION AT THIS POINT
I say if we survive around 500 after the killer stretch...Id offer Norris, James and Castro for Halladay...sad thing is that still would probably not even get u a call back lol
I just hate to see Roy not able to finish this game off and get the win. He's been on a serious roll recently. I hope whatever it is that it doesn't linger so he can keep it going.
More importantly, you have to think several other teams would have a lot more to offer up for Halladay. I can't imagine a scenario where we could get him.
You know I never really considered him cheap just dumb when it comes to bulding a team. If he is not careful he will fall in AL Davis territory!
Talking about how the astros are poised to make another run in the second half, and think that Drayton should do everything he can to get him here BTW The injury was a result of his sixth-inning at-bat, and Oswalt is not expected to miss any future starts. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/6524122.html
richardjusticeEd Wade said Roy O injury doesn't appear to be serious. Got stung on the finger during an at-bat. Man imagine if we had the two Roys and Wandy at the top of the rotation....Dominant
I believe that is far more accurate. I think most people realize that Uncle D spends on the big club despite the inaccurate claims that float around occasionally about him being a cheapskate. The one question I have is do you think he would spend as much on the big club if he devoted more resources consistently to drafting and developing players?
i know i'm in the minority .001%, but if he could be had for a combo of our minor leaguers, and they were committed to extending him past 2010, i give them whatever it takes (within reason). the chances of jordan lyles, ross seaton, bud norris, etc, of ever approaching halladay status are, it's safe to say, nil. not to mention, with halladay in the fold, we theoretically wouldn't desperately need minor league talent in the majors for quite awhile. not to mention, let's not forget that he can get easily re-traded down the road for reciprocal minor league talent. i could go on and on, but i dont understand how people could be so opposed to this.
Yea I am sure he would cut the payroll and everyone was saying a few years back he should go young follow the Rockies, Indians and Diamondbacks example when they made the playoffs but now look at those clubs...only Tampa is doing the young thing and winning.
