Bogusevic is also at AA (although he's not doing too well there). Not sure if they want to see what Barthmaier's long-term plans are. There are also the perennial "Eric Bruntlett"-type players... namely, Cody Ransom. I can also see Ryan Thompson and Paul Estrada get a shot to make this bullpen next year.
Our fans are learning ineptitude from the players. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7141730?MSNHPHMA
Biggio is now one double from tying George Brett for #5 all time and one extra base hit from tying Honus Wagner for #25 all time.
In for a bit of a rough patch the next week ... #1 Oswalt - out for one start #2 Jennings - out for the season #3 Woody #4 Wandy #5 Sampson - coming back soon but as a reliever Matt Albers (who would be our best, most ready AAA pitching prospect) and Brandon Backe (back in early September), I guess, will pick up the slack.
Forgot about Ranson. He's got 28 hr's so far. He at least deserves a shot to play for the last month. A little extra power off the bench never hurt anyone. I wouldn't be suprised if they called in Josh Anderson and/or Mike Rodriguez, too.
This year is Lane's final "option" year, but there's a rule requiring any player, whether they have options remaining or not, who has a certain amount of major league service time (iirc it's 3 years) to pass through waivers before being sent down.
Officially, to keep his innings down. Realistically, someone needs to miss some starts so they can evaluate Backe, Gutierrez and maybe Patton.
I'm getting a little worried about Biggio's HBP record. I haven't seen any updates in a while. Somebody tell him to crowd the plate a little more...
Rangers beat the Orioles today 30-3. Think Lidge could be trusted with THAT margin in the bottom of the ninth?
