    that was awesome.

it was actually a boring game til OT started.

I hate PKs to end the game though.

    Play til you roll over.

Sweet! I was nervous during those penalty kicks at end, but glad Houston won!

Always nice to have a championship for Houston. I've never really followed soccer or been a fan, but now that Houston has it I might be able to get into it a little more if I make it out to see them at UH some. It's still hard though if they aren't on tv on a regular basis.

I'm not a huge soccer fan, but always root for Houston teams:) Good to see the win.

I don't get a chance to ever watch Dynamo games, or maybe I've missed some on ESPN/2 a few times, but made it a point to watch this one. Damn exciting stuff in the end. The first goal was the loudest I've yelled in a long time.

I'm upset ABC isn't showing the trophy presentation anywhere in the country.

Look for it on the MLS website later today.

I don't think so, but the Dynamo sure did earn the name by the way they played in the playoffs.

Great game! Great Season! Great Team!

Now all we need is a brand new Soccer Specific Stadium to hold the trophy! :D

USA’s Houston Dynamo progress to 2007 CONCACAF Champions' Cup™

12.11.06 - The Houston Dynamo progressed to the 2007 CONCACAF Champions' Cup™ after winning the USA’s 2006 Major League Soccer (MLS) Cup by defeating the New England Revolution 4:3 on penalty kicks in the final at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas on Sunday.

Formerly the San Jose Earthquakes, the Houston Dynamo are the first club from the state of Texas to compete in the CONCACAF Champions’ Cup™ since the Dallas Rockets in 1992.

The Houston Dynamo join the 2006 MLS Regular Season Champion, D.C. United as the USA representatives to the 2007 CONCACAF Champions’ Cup™ which will also include the 2006 Mexican League Torneo de Apertura (TBD) and Clausura (Pachuca CF) winners; three Central American teams (CD Olímpia of Honduras, Puntarenas FC of Costa Rica, TBD); and the Caribbean Champion

In addition to becoming the CONCACAF Champion, the winner will also have the chance to play as the CONCACAF representative against the world’s best teams in the 2007 FIFA Club World Cup, while the Champions’ Cup runner-up will be one of the three CONCACAF invitees to the 2007 Copa Nissan Sudamericana.

Club América won their fifth CONCACAF Champions’ Cup™ after defeating CD Toluca 2:1 in an all-Mexican final in 2006.

The CONCACAF Champions Cup™ is the longest running international club competition in the region and has crowned the champion club of the Confederation since its inception in 1962. MORE INFORMATION

I think they should play a bunch of 10 minute overtimes, and after each one, if it's still tied, each team has to pull 1 or 2 players off the field. That's a good way to guarantee it will end (eventually you'll be 2 on 2 or something), but still let players compete instead of the pk system. Plus, it adds a lot of strategy to OT in terms of who you take off the field and how the play changes.

Essentially, it would be PK's in that situation, as well. The more players you take off the field, the more likely you'll have an unlimited number of breakaways and 1-on1 situations.

just give them an extra sub in OT.

I kinda like the idea of OT instead of a "golden goal."
