no joke man...larussa's such a nutcase. about a million reasons why pujols should have bat in the 9th could be listed...i'll list a couple: 1) he's arguably the best player in baseball 2) the cards won the WS, have him as their only rep, and he didn't even play 3) neither orlando hudson nor aaron rowand should be getting multiple AB's in an allstar game, esp. with albert ****ing pujols sitting on the bench i cant believe people arent in an uproar over that
http://www.miniclip.com/games/baseball/en/ Just wondering, can anyone win on the hard level????....., it's making me go crazy.....I challenge anyone to take the bottom of the ninth challenge....
Albert didn't like getting benched. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/allstar07/news/story?id=2932400 Pujols frustrated not to get into All-Star Game SAN FRANCISCO -- Albert Pujols was angry about being left on the All-Star bench and the St. Louis slugger took aim at the National League manager -- who just happened to be Tony La Russa of his own Cardinals. "It's the All-Star Game. He can do what he wants," Pujols said Tuesday night. "He does whatever he wants. If I wasn't expecting to play, I wouldn't have come up here." Pujols, the NL MVP in 2005 and key to the Cardinals' win in the World Series last year, said La Russa didn't talk to him the entire game. Pujols could only watch when Aaron Rowand flied out with the bases loaded to end the American League's 5-4 win. "If he wants to get upset, he can get upset," La Russa said. "Whatever he wants to do, he can do. It's America. That wasn't the most important thing tonight." With the 32-man rosters, it's not uncommon for few players to be left out. The AL used 27 players, while the NL used 28. Pujols and Texas shortstop Michael Young -- last year's All-Star Game MVP -- were the only position players who didn't get into the game. Ever since the 2002 event ended in an extra-innings tie, managers have tended to hold a hitter back just in case. La Russa said he indeed was saving his star player in case the game went long. "Once we lost [Miguel] Cabrera and [Freddy] Sanchez, he was the guy we were going to use to protect ourselves in case we kept playing because of Albert's versatility," La Russa said. "I think we had the right guy at bat." A six-time All-Star, Pujols finished about 770,000 votes behind starting first baseman Prince Fielder. He played left field regularly in 2002 and '03 and also saw time at third base in 2001 and '02. Pujols said he was getting his body loose the whole night. "I was ready to go since the game started," Pujols said. Pujols is mired in a career-worst home run slump -- 22 games and a career-worst 74 at-bats. He is tied with Chris Duncan for the team lead with 16 homers and his last homer was off Kansas City's Jimmy Gobble on June 14. Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press
Did Roy-O pitch..? I don't remember seeing him anywhere outside the dugout.. And why was Carlos Lee (RBI leader) used as a one time Pinch hitter with no one on base.. ? Him and Halladay (Sp?) should've really had their roles in the All-star game reversed..
Oswalt didn't pitch and that's a good thing. He pitched Sunday and even though Tuesday was his regular day to throw, there is a bit of difference with a bullpen session and an adrenaline pumping all-star appearance.
Agreed...Its funny, but ESPN did bb tonight and STeve PHillips bold prediction was that Hunter was going to win the Battting title...Good pub and anything is possible.... As for Pujols, wah....
Hell, Roy could have gone an inning. I was miffed about not putting Pujols in, either. How can you worry about the game going long when you are losing? Pujols is the person you want up there. He probably would have hit it out. You don't go to an all-star game to not play. Everyone should be played. LaRussa can suck an egg. Bunch of BS! Screw the All-Star game. NL can't win it anyway. I doubt I will even bother with it at all next year.
Griffey is a sure-fire HOFer but he was on track to being thought of in the likes of Ruth, Aaron, Mays..... He had consecutive years of 49, 56, 56, 48, and 40 home runs followed by consecutive years of nagging injures and only 22, 8, 13 and 20 home runs then mediocre (and still injury plagued) years of 35, 27 and 23 home runs.
The Japanese are a snobby bunch That's all I'm saying. Sure, he's going to be in the HOF, but that wasn't his 'ceiling'. This guy was supposed to be where Bonds IS now, if not actually surpass it. He was supposed to be an all-timer, a legend with a statue in front of some ballpark by the time he hangs 'em up. Anways, barring any recurring health issues, A-Rod and Pujols will definitely get there. Oh, and speaking of Pujols, I am glad he's expressing his displeasure with LaRussa not playing him. Now all he has to do is force a trade to the Astros for Brad Lidge and I will forgive all of his former 'transgressions'.
of course larussa should have put him in but pujols is such a prick i find this whole thing hilarious.
