There is no particular section to put "other" Baseball in besides the Astros section ,so it seemed most appropriate to put it in the "Hangout Section". My picks for World Series 2011 : Phillies Vs Red Sox
Phillies rotation is almost plain illegal to have : Halladay Lee Oswalt Hamels Blanton Just ridiculous , try facing 4 of them in a 4 game series.
I'll take the Red Sox for the win. Phillies have fantastic pitching but their offense is in trouble. Utley, Dom Brown and Polanco aren't healthy and having lost Werth may come back to haunt them. Sox have almost as good a pitching staff and a MUCH better offense right now. Don't trust the Yanks pitching after Hughes and Giants need to score runs, don't see them going all the way again without at least a decent offense. Braves with Uggla and a full season of Mike Minor should scare people but Heyward needs to stay healthy. NL Central should be good with the Reds, Brewers and Cards battling it out.
Painfully obvious the Astros will win the WS this year. Duh. Baseball produces surprises a bunch in the playoffs...so difficult to predict this. The Phils seem built for the playoffs with that pitching staff. They need those guys to stay healthy, though. The Red Sox lineup is just ridiculously good. Can't wait for Opening Day!
I was thinking more along the lines of baseball sneaking up on me. Don't get me wrong. I can appreciate baseball.
Giants should win the NL West , with Rockies making a run for it . Phillies should win the NL East , with Braves playing for a WC spot I would have picked the Cards , but with one of their aces down for the whole season , i think Reds have a young solid pitching staff . Central is kinda wide open between about 3-4 teams. Red Sox should win the AL East , with Yankees and Rays battling out for WC spot AL Central - i think the Twins will win it , both Tigers and White Sox will have something to say about it. AL West , Rangers have a solid group coming back , my darkhorse team is def the Oakland A's will a tremendous young pitching staff , but im not sure about their annual offense lineups over the years.
I don't watch much baseball either , but this Phillies historic staff has been drawing me to it . I don't care much for the Miami heat trio , but for some reason i am very curious about this 5 man pitching staff the Phillies will deal out there for the public to see and "Witness". lol
Don't be shocked if the Orioles, yes the Orioles, finish 3rd in the AL East after Boston and the Yankees. I don't see the Rays being as good as they have been the last couple of seasons. I am very curious to see who wins the AL Central among the White Sox, the Twins, and the Tigers. My money is on the White Sox.
Swept them last year and will do it again this year! Now let me get another 6-pack out of the fridge.
So how about those trendy Red Sox? 2-8 and lost 16-5 tonight to the Rays. Very early look around the league(~10 games in) Orioles 6-3 Red Sox, Rays 2-8 Indians 7-2 Tigers 3-7 Rangers 9-1(Cliff Lee who?) Phillies 7-2 Rockies 7-2 Giants 4-5
Not making any predictions but yes I see what you're saying. Yes early, but no doubt some panic in a place like Boston.
There still going to easily win 90+ games. There line-up is still going to end up being one of the best scoring in the entire league. They have a plethora of players coming back from injury and new faces in the lineup. I'm not even a Red Sox fan but trying to judge any team after only 6% of the season is done is absurd.
Sox have to much pitching and offense to struggle like this much longer. Expect a nice 20 game stretch pretty soon from those guys. Rays won't win the division or WC THIS season but dam they have tons of young talent.
First no hitter this season by Francisco Liriano.(Beat the White-Sox 1-0). 6 walks, 2 K's, 123 pitches/66 strikes. His first career complete game. First Twins no-hitter since 9/11/99 (Eric Milton).
