Mets fans now know how it feels to be a Rocket fan(all your best players are injured). Great win, we keep up in the NL Central and beat their best pitcher. I smell a sweep.
Did we ever make an offer to Castillo? I've never really watched him play much but he is a phenomenal 2-hole hitter.
The Good - Offense showed no effects of missing Puma, Coste continues to look like a great move by Wade and Bourne is Bourne! The Bad - Hampton didn't look bad but not good either he may be pitching for his job in the next week and the bullpen looked a bit shaky but effective. The Ugly - The Mets...enough said Overall we continue to win
I dont think so...he was traded to the Mets at the deadline the prior year I believe and made no bones about the fact he wanted to stay there so they signed him to a pretty big contract similar to Kaz's
I'm getting really pumped about our recent success. Today's win might not have been the prettiest, but a win is a win and I will take it. Inching closer and closer with every win, and starting to really get back into the Astros. Hopefully, the success isn't a fluke, and we keep it up and make the playoffs. Big games against the Mets still to come. Keep it up guys.
I see, thanks. I'm impressed with both the way he looked tonight and his career numbers. Very patient, switch-hitting contact hitter who can bunt and steal bases. He isn't stealing as much as he did early in his career but he's still very efficient.
Yea he struggled last year a bit but I think he was hurt normally a solid to above avg 2nd baseman. Holiday killed tonight with 4 hits kinda concerns me but pitching rules so as long as no one in the Central gets Halladay il be ok with our chances.
His career OBP is significantly better than that of anybody on our team not named Lance Berkman and he has 3 fairly recent gold gloves. He'd be a massive upgrade over Matsui, not that we ever had a chance to get him. It seems like the only thing he doesn't do is hit for power. Mets fans may have given him a hard time about that dropped ball but I think they're lucky to have him.
Has anybody ever noticed that Jose Ortiz from the Chron looks a lot like Russ Ortiz? I never noticed him during postgame interviews until recently. I had only seen his picture on the Chron.
I am always impressed with guys who get on base and draw walks. I would love to have Castillo on our team. However wasn't Matsui supposed to be the same type of hitter? Didn't we sign him with that intention?
