We've allowed 14 runs in a game and a half vs. a AAA lineup. Our starting pitching is plenty good...lol.

Last week was pretty special.....but cmon...russ ortiz and Brian mohler are your 3 and 4 for a playoff team?

I didn't accuse you of that. I just asked that you take the garbage you are typing on the computer and leave. Uncle Drayton didn't go out and find Ortiz and Moehler either, Wade did, and under budget constraints he did what he could in assembling this team.

I hate to say it but the bandwagon has been filling up lately, if the Stros lose today, it might just empty, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Il give you Ortiz and to somewhat degree Hampton but not Moehler he has been pretty good for a quite a while after a shaky start...

Moehler is a bullpen guy b/c his pitches have 0 movement......Spend little money on pitching and see what happens

This I agree with! Moles is a good 5 but not a 3 or 4...Hampton can be a good 4 while of course Roy and Wandy are a good 1-2 combo. The big whole is a number 3 but even with our weak farm system we can get a good 3!

Guys....worst case scenario is a 4-2 homestand which we should take every day of the week.

We could be in serious trouble if moehler/ortiz/Hampton are bad this next 7 days....but at least Oswalt/wandy will take 4 of those games.

Which is why they have to call up someone now, or trade for a SP

5/31/09 Pirates series thread: I wrote

the amazing thing is, with a lineup hitting as well as this one is, they still are at the bottom of the league in runs scored. the team hasn't had good situational hitting nor has it been consistent(i know that's weird to say with so many .300 hitters but its the truth). also, the team has a below avg on base percentage b/c tejada/lee/ivan rodriguez almost never walk, so their OBP is only 30-40 pts above their batting avg.

    your response(cardpire)

also all true. seems like our situational hitting has sucked for almost a decade now. fortunately, this year the pitchers have given us a reprieve on b****ing about it.

I have been busy since the team starting winning so I haven't been in the game threads much.

Sad thing is that over his last 3 starts, livan's ERA is over 11.

    Frustrating game.

I know both decisions can be justified to some extent but before Blum was thrown out at home in the 1st, we only had 1 out and that out came off a warning track shot from Bourn. Hernandez was in deep trouble then we ran into 2 outs. It just seems like we didn't need to do be aggressive there. Hernandez was ready for the kill and we let him off the hook.

It's too bad the Astros didn't resign Wolf. He could have been our number 3.

I am ok with the decision...as with the whole Dave Clark thing on Wednesday night I think when you have a kill shot you take it! They where about to knock him out if they scored a run or two more, Redding was warming up, so going for it early in the game is good with me.

I think this years Wolf could be Doug Davis...he has good numbers for a 3 and would fit in with the teams mindset.

Ummmm...no thanks. Davis has a 3.76 ERA for the season with a 1.49 WHIP. In his last two starts he has gone a total of 8.1 innings and given up 8 earned runs. All of this and his salary is $8.75 million per year.
