I think he was complaining about the first pitch... which wasn't close (but the ump had been inconsistent all game).
lets go!!! why so much hate for beltran. he left for more money and the better team...you wouldve done the same
Damn, I just got home from the Aggie game. I saw the replay on ESPN. I thought Lance hit that one out of the park. Damn you Beltran. I hope you're too hurt to play tomorow.
No I would not have....I hate Beltran and the year after he could have been bangin' in the world series.......but instead he was at home watching on tv hoping the astros would lose. He could have helped us score and win in the world series. Money is not everything......especially when they are filthy rich anyway.
What he said...I thought that one was out of here, but damn beltran... Hirsh actually kept us in the game and man, this is tough loss...We need the win today...Give us a little jump start as these type of games can be draining...
Incorrect on both counts. We offered him the same money, would have been less with tax diferential. Also, we had the far superior team at the time but Minaya has been given no spending limit so he's put together a nice regular season team that will choke in the playoffs. New York is the worst, filthiest, cesspool of a useless, degenerate city in the history of humanity and should be leveled ASAP.
NY's ugly step child of a team produces fans with some mental deficits, I guess. The best thing in Queens right now is Andre Agassi and the US Open... and that only lasts for another week.
Based on the number of fans here that were cheering an injury to Beltran, I don't think Houston fans are in a position to talk right now about fan quality. No matter how much people hate the guy, to be thrilled by an injury is disgusting.
I agree with you about Beltran but to say New York is the worst city in the history of humanity? C'mon! That's a bit EXTREME.
I know people here weren't holding candlelight vigils for his knee, but I don't think there were that many posters who were serious about wanting him to be hurt (at least no accredited posters). Also, the Houston fans at MMP cheered when he was able to get up and walk (despite the little "joke" that Carlos uttered about knowing he was back in houston because the fans were booing... what a character!). That definitely would not happen at Philadelhpia for JD Drew or Billy Wagner. Finally, you can't equate a bulletin board's response and call that "houston fans." I know the infatuation here with Beltran is beyond unhealthy. and that skews things big-time... in reality, he's just another good ballplayer playing in a big market (nothing more, nothing less). (also, talk about how NY fans left Beltran and Giambi for dead after 2 months of the season last year... while a ton of Houston fans are still pulling for Lidge to turn it around or Carr to live up to the hype...)
If anything, it is an understatement. As for saying the fans cheering for him to be hurt on the BBS are representative of Houston fans as a whole... way to not watch the damn game. Everybody stood up and clapped when he walked up on his own power. Get a clue.
By no means do I want the guy to be seriously hurt or anything. But I wouldn't be upset if he had a bruised knee and had to sit out today's game. I mean...we REALLY need a win. And anytime a team is missing a superstar, it helps. Go Stros.
See you don't get it ... There have been plenty of players that have actually chosen to go to another team for more money/better team/home town and I don't know of any player I dislike for doing that. Beltran and his agent lied and strung the Astros along all offseason to get a few extra bucks out of another city with ZERO intentions of looking at the Astros. I can handle him going somewhere else. The way he did it is fine with me too, but when he did it that way he has to expect to get the hatred of a city and that is what he gets. And to his credit, he has handled it well and taken it like a man and he even got some revenge on the field against us last night. Much better than he has handled Mets fans booing him for so long
