Clyde's 3pt percentage improved so much because they moved the 3pt line closer for 3 years. McGrady was a better 3pt shooter than Clyde was.

in both of their peaks, i thought tracy was the more dominant player (but his true peak was very short).

clyde was the overall better player though no doubt.

False. He started hitting them at a 32+ % clip starting in 1990...four years before the 3-year closer 3PT experiment happened.

Neither of them were snipers from deep, and it's fair to say Drexler wasn't as good from downtown overall, but that's about it. Oh, and Clyde wasn't as preoccupied with chucking it from deep. 32% and 2 attempts per game for his career....34% and 4 attempts for McGrady's.

In 5 seasons, Clyde hit ~ 50% FGs .... McGrady never sniffed that once.

no that's a post of someone who never saw both of them play.

Another thing you can't find in the stats book is leadership and professionalism (a consummate professional)

Drexler never gets booed in Portland, in fact, they retired his number.

    University of Houston: yes
    Portland Trail Blazers:yes
    Houston Rockets:yes

    Hall of Fame: Yes

    Tracy McGrady

    Toronto: Probably not
    Orlando: Not likely
    Houston: Not likely
    New York: No
    Pistons: No
    [possible next team?]: No

Hall of Fame: Not a lock

Can we change the title of this thread to "Banal arguments about McGrady"? I come in here to check on how he's doing this season but all I see is a bunch of recycled garbage about why he does/doesn't suck. You guys make the same points ad nauseam and honestly, it's getting old.

You're not going to sway McGrady supporters. Same with detractors.

You have your opinions and they have been repeated to death, so can we stop beating a dead horse and just shut the **** up?

I keep coming to this thread to try to find out how well T-Mac's doing in Detroit, but all I keep finding are posts from tinman bashing McGrady. For the love of God, the guy is gone. You hate him, we know. He is the genesis of evil itself. We get it. Just leave it alone and give the rest of us so-called "TOFs" a space to try to follow his career. Why must you hijack every thread about him?

You chose to discuss a 5 year period in which 3 of those years the line was moved in. I pointed the flaw in your argument out. There is nothing false about that. I wasn't making any other argument other than T-Mac was a better 3pt shooter than Clyde.

They actually have very similar career stats, but the big differences are: Clyde had a better FG%, Clyde played in a more defensive oriented league, and Clyde led his teams to multiple Finals appearances.

Nice vid, thatnks for posting it.

There might be some things to go from Tracy's game, but his IQ will never leave him.

I really don't know how people can even argue this, even if you haven't seen Drexler play, his resume speaks for itself.

Team achievements as well as Individual achievements count because basketball is a team sport and the true greats elevate everyone around them.

As a famous group once said

    "Everything Counts in Large Amounts"

    Whatever!

you guys requested me to show up "bongo33"

then you guys as me questions on my feelings toward tmac, tmac fans, the pistons, the earth, tupac etc and I answer them

then you say "i'm here to bash you guys"

LOOK you guys are asking me question

and I answered with facts: ie better records, greater playoff achievements etc

you asked for tinman, you got tinman

its facts. when you see people who don't have them, you have to let them know.

let me break it down to you:

Tmac fan says Toronto/Orlando post McGrady were not successful

Toronto made it to the Eastern Semis and lost by 1 basket in game 7 vs the Sixers:

    FACT.

Orlando: got Dwight Howard, made it to the NBA Finals

    FACT.

this dude said I was delusional, but all these things did happen.

Is that BASHING? when you have to tell someone FACTS?

No, you don't have to tell anyone anything. Your 100 posts in this thread have done absolutely nothing to dissuade other's opinions. Likewise when reversed. It's all just pointless banter which clouds the real purpose of this thread, which is to keep track of McGrady's current season with the Pistons.

And, for the record, my definition of success is an NBA Championship. Under that definition, Toronto and Orlando were not successful after McGrady's departure.

Man....I forget how much fun it was to watch him play when he first came to the Rockets.

Only if here were blessed with good health and a brain. Also think we wasted the first couple of years of Yao and Tmac with a ****ty coach and some garbage ass players. Weren't we starting Scott Padget, Ryan Bowen, Clarence Weatherspoon and various other crap at one point or another with them?

If someone asks you as question, it's proper to respond.

if that's your definition of success, then Kobe Bryant is 1 Billion times better than Tracy McGrady.

    I agree.
