They should have just played the dude. The team wasn't going anywhere anyway and it was a bit silly to limit him to 8 minutes like that and then just reduce it to zero because he wanted to play more.

That was harsh and it seemed vindictive for the Steve Smith crap the year before.

It's fine to trade the man. But I am not sure Kmart > T-mac plus Landry.

We really miss Landry in a lot of ways. The worst part was that by making it messy, there's no possible way t-mac ever returns. Why should the Rockets have burned the bridges.

It got personal between Adelman and T-mac - it's just so obvious, and I can't stand it when coaches do that. Their job is to get the most out of the players, not isolate them because of a grudge.

I think if we played him like 30 minutes a game back then, it would've F'ed up his knee to the point that he will probably next season

But i did hate losing landry in order to get rid of tmac.

and I actually wouldnt have mind signing mac to a min contract this year

They would have been doing him a disservice to his long term career if they would have played him 30 mins a game. And the Rockets were in the playoff hunt for most of last year, why play a guy for extended mins when he doesn't fit in your long term plans anyways. You saw last year and even this season, that is still a struggle for him to play for more than 15 mins. He even told Dantoni at one point last season that he couldn't come back in a game because of his knee. I'm not knocking his toughness but pointing out on how long of a recovery MFS is.

MFS is very serious especially for someone like T-Mac who has a lot of miles on him already. I don't know if you caught Chris Webber last season on TNT when they were discussing the T-Mac situation. Webber looked right at the camera and told T-Mac to listen to what the Rockets are doing because when he had MFS, he rushed it and played 30 mins a game. He now regrets it because he believes it shorten his career.

So why go from playing him 8 minutes to 0 minutes?

That's not about his knee. That's basically saying f-you T-mac by Adelman.

Because McGrady was making a big stink about increasing his mins because he was 100 percent back. At that point it became obvious that it wasn't going to work between the two parties anymore so what would be the point of playing him while you are trying to deal him. Look they did a favor to him by dealing him, he got to play decent mins. If he would have stayed here, it would have been a constant power struggle between the two which benefits no one.

Knowing what you know now, can you argue they weren't right in keeping his mins limited coming back from MFS? It was the best decision for the Rockets organization and T-Mac's career.

That's Adelman saying that he has a championship contender on his hands.

That's Adelman saying that Tracy refuses to play defense, run the floor, and contribute to the dirty work that he has always passed on to others. As a man, you need to EARN your minutes. They are not free, especially when you are completely devoid of effort, on a championship contending team.

Does anyone remember the year Yao broke his leg and Tmac carried the team until Yao came back? We lost to Utah in the playoffs in 7 games that year. That rockets team was far inferior to this current rockets team yet we still could compete with any team. That's how good Tmac used to be.

TMAC couldve gave up and retired but he put the work in and feels he has something to prove and if you look at him now he really has came a long long way.I know he will be successful on a good team its just a matter of when.

if this is the case why is half our team getting pt? they don't hustle, they jack up shots, and their defense is atrocious.

    it was personal

    You misfired, budcakes...

Yes, our team so of now, is not very talented. Easy enough to see.

Our team at the time that McGrady was being a selfish, soft, diva, was quite beastly.

    Carl Landry
    Dikembe Mutombo
    Ron Artest
    Luis Scola
    Yao played all 82 games...
    etc...

The Rockets and TMac came to an agreement not to make playing time a spectacle.

They all agreed that his time was going to be escalated slowly but Tmac went and ran his mouth off.

RA was totally vindicated when TMac went to NY and made a fool of himself.

well i wouldn't label you a TOF cause at least the TOFs watch him play, you mentioned you haven't seen a single game of him in Detroit.

I've seen a couple games when League pass had a free preview and when they show in game during NBA TV Gametime.

the TOF are here to jump for joy when their hero hits a bucket and mention it to us clutchfans

you are here...actually i have no idea why you are here on this thread

    Did nobody read Clutch's article?
    http://www.clutchfans.net/news/1545/the_day_t-mac_lost_houston/

I believe Clutch's article is pretty straight forward and from the heart. Too bad many here seem to ignore it.

[anti-tinman] TOHs can't even get their facts straight, because we missed the playoffs the year of this playing-time debacle. [/anti-tinman]

I made a post a while back saying that if McGrady was smart, he should learn to play a role similar to Sabonis with Portland. He could prolong his NBA career for a few more years. TMac has the abilities to be a facilitator as Sabonis and is in a better physical condition than Sabonis was.

It's funny how that same Adelman is playing Martin major minutes now when he does the exact same things except 250x worse than McGrady! In every category btw...
