Production by month. Good to see that he's continually showing progress.

Pretty good, I'd like to see his scoring go up way more then it is though.

I think that would be nice, but its difficult for him to do so given his current circumstances.

This season was billed as a recovery season for him and an opportunity for him to show the world that he could once again be a serviceable player. On average he's getting almost 30 minutes a night (27 mpg in Feb, 31 mpg in Jan) as of late and I dont foresee his minutes going up considerably higher than they are the rest of the way out.

In the past, he's always tried to be assertive when playing limited minutes, but more often than not, he's struggled. This season, he's producing during those minutes, and as a result, the coaches have gained confidence in his play. Ideally, he ends this season with the Pistons and finds a contender looking for a solid 6th man to play with.

I think he'll even better next season with a pain free preseason . H has proven he can be 17-6-6 type player if asked to

They want him back next year, but they keep dropping his minutes -- strange.

As someone here would say, those fans that want him back are fake pistons fans. And since Joe Dumars wants him back, he's a fake pistons legend and a fake pistons GM.

The fake Pistons fans are the ones who keep wanting him to get traded to a contender, even though there are zero rumors that anybody wants him besides the Pistons.

and yes, i believe there are fake Pistons fans

Nah... The thread would just be people, that know they were wrong about McGrady, setting a new bar or changing the argument to something other than his productivity on the court.

Kurt Helin, the guy who wrote that article, can easily admit he made a mistake because he was just off on his previous evaluation of a player's health, motivation, etc. He's not some person weirdly obsessed with harboring hatred for an athlete he only knows from afar.

McGrady's absolutely earned himself a raise, maybe up to the MLE level. And Detroit has to be aware that if he has a real choice in teams this summer, their on court situation can't be that appealing to him.

At this point....you have to think the Clippers made a big mistake laughing him off in July. He would have been a handy guy for tossing Blake Griffin alley oops.

I hope he stays a Piston, so your epic thread will remain.

He's been good. He has been finishing strong at the rim lately and he shows he is unselfish and doesn't care about scoring.

Let's face it, Detroit is just a HORRIBLE fit. He doesn't fit there. There is no way (in my mind) he is staying there for the next season.

And for him, it is important to win a title or at least advance in the playoffs.

Well, the one good thing about Detroit is they have no playmaker so McGrady fits in that way. On the other hand, Tayshaun Prince, Ben Gordan, Stuckey and Will Bynum are all terrible without the ball. The only big man with touch on the team is Greg Monroe

    I think he'll stay.

He'll get the next offseason to actually work on his game and continue to get quicker. The training staff has really helped him so I can see him there for another year and maybe after look to go for a contender.

You may be right. That's the factor. I think he feels extremly comfortable with their conditioning coach.

I'm sure he'll consider them out of appreciation - they kept him in the league and gave him a chance to become GrantHill2.

But it would be very surprising to see a former star in his twilight choose to stick with a franchise mired in a muddy rebuild when he could get near equal money to chase a ring.

I could see him take a look at LAL, Dal, SAS...and he's shown steady (one way) interest in returning to Orl. Could be he'd look into Chicago or Miami again, despite their rejections.
