It was match-up issues as he's not quick enough to guard GS's backcourt at the point.

He'll get a lot more minutes against other teams.

Am I the only one who doesn't see any progress watching these videos?
To me he looked better playing as a knick (not that he looked good).

    <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/n-EmDpQyIuY?fs=1&amp;hl=fr_FR&amp;rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/n-EmDpQyIuY?fs=1&amp;hl=fr_FR&amp;rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

He was moving at the very least as well, his jumpshot looked better (it looks absolutely awful now, seriously I cringed every time he shot in these pistons vids)...

I mean it's nearly been 2 years since his surgery (and while it was microfracture surgery it was a minor one, so minor that it wasn't even needed...) and to me he hasn't shown anything that would make me think that he is on the path to being a "good enough" player again.

We all remember him saying as soon as august/september 09 that he would be ready for the start of the season, turned out he wasn't ready at all.

Then he went to New York saying they got a "hungry player" in him and that his knee was a problem of the past ==> his knee flared up every other game.

And now as a Piston it's basically the same situation, well even worse because they put some kind of a "time limit" on him.

It's either one of two things:

-his knee is healed but Mcgrady doesn't believe it is and plays like it (mental issue)
-or is knee really isn't healed and I think it's time to call it quits if that's the case (health issue)

And, like others have mentioned, I don't understand why he doesn't lose weight.
Since his first season as a Rocket he's been gaining weight every single year, that's really smart for someone with a bad back and a bad knee...
You can't control injuries but you sure as hell can control your weight, especially as a pro ball player.

Man if i am not wrong Grant Hill is the oldest player in the NBA

He also have injury issues throughout the carrier and look at how high of a level he can still play  unlike someone i knew ...... both used to play in Orlando

Hill has not relied on his athleticism as much as Tracy. Tracy without athleticism is like that guy in the gym that camps threes all day.

He did before his injury. The way he's been able to come back is (a)fundamental good health behavior and (b)successfully modifying his game to be effective in spite of his loss of athleticism.

I agree. But Tracy just recently lost it. Not only that but after 7-8 years of showing little work ethic, it's kind of tough to lose it all and then try to fashion together good work ethic when he's never had it before.

Tracy has a jumper, I don't know why that gets affected with the injury...

And he won't get consistent minutes, until he can consistently put forth effort on the defensive end.

I'll give Tracy this- he's doing better than AI as far as work ethic is concerned. I'm really liking what he's doing with the Pistons this year. Slow increase over time (like what the Rockets wanted) is much better long-term than how he tried to go crazy with the Knicks.

You know what surprise me the most (in a bad way) about TMac? How bad his jumper is.. He really can't hit it at all. The only shot that seems to drop is those pretty layups off the backboard.

Surprising that his jumper is so off.

He's 1-12 on jump shots at 10+ feet this season.

McGrady doesn't look halfway bad tonight against the Blazers. No explosion at all, but he's not stopping the ball as much and is making more of an effort to fit in to what the other Pistons are doing.

BTW, I have to agree with the Blazers Mike & Mike that Greg Monroe doesn't look like he's strong enough to play PF in the NBA. He's 250 lbs that plays like 215. He makes LaMarcus Aldridge seem like a physical player.

SO against GSW it wasn't actually his ankle. It was his knee...

"McGrady is encouraged by how well his surgically-repaired knee has held up this season, the Detroit"

    Next day:

"McGrady, who sat out the second half of Sunday's win over the Warriors with a sore knee, will be available"

Its a nice feeling that I don't have to give a flying crap about Tracy McGrady's health status any more.
