A 22 game streak and a couple of first round exits counts for more than lying about your health, throwing people under the bus, quitting on the team, not informing the team about your surgery, picking the Lakers, being a diva over playing time, and not accepting an ounce of responsibility for any of those to this day?

You're right though, you can be a fan of both and it is condescending and presumptuous of me to state otherwise. My disdain for McGrady, and the myopia of his fans clouds my judgment.

But can you blame me? He's a jerk, washed up, and has burned more bridges than Ron Ron and Rodman combined.

And let's not forget one of the other teams Tracy quit on...

McGrady Won't Play for U.S. Olympic Team

Tracy McGrady will not play for the U.S. basketball team at the Olympics, U.S. Coach Larry Brown said Wednesday.

"Tracy dropped out," Brown said, breaking the news of yet another superstar's withdrawal from the roster.

ROFL, whatever arguments you've posted in this thread have immediately been discredited as trash with this statement. You're reaching and look like a moron in doing so. I know being a young Rockets fan, you wouldn't remember the time of defense actually being a staple in wins. While those Sixers teams were inept offensively, they were built well around Iverson because it allowed him to dominate the ball, chuck up all the shots, and most importantly play elite defense.

George Lynch was a real good perimeter defender, Mutombo was the NBA's DEFENSIVE player of the year, Larry Brown was/is a defensive genius, and even Aaron McKie was recognized with his play as the NBA 6MOY. Snow in the backcourt allowed Iverson to play the SG position, because of his defense, passing, and overall unselfishness. Even Hill was a solid role player as well. Don't get me wrong, Iverson was terrific in what he did to lead that team, but to say McGrady had a better supporting cast? You're either on something, therefore let me have some of that you're smoking, or just plain blinded by your hate for McGrady that you'll resort to lies to "prove" a point. If I had to guess, it's probably a mixture of both, but since I'm a nice guy, I'll say it's more likely the latter.

Get out of here with that trash, again another poster so blinded by hate that they fail to see the obvious in front of them. It's the same fans that are so blinded by their homerism that they believe Jordan Hill has as much value as a Derrick Favors, or Chase Budinger to be the next Larry Bird. But once those lofty expectations are not met, then they turn on them instead of realizing that they put too much expectations on them in the first place.

Anyway, see flamingdts post. He was spot on. Agreed, +100000. I wish I was able to rep posters, because again he hit the nail on the head calling you out in questioning your "supreme" ability of being able to call the shots of who true Rocket fans are.

    --

Look, I didn't mean to come off harsh, it just kind of infuriated me that there are posters so oblivious to the truth that they're willing to lie, and question other people's fandoms to try to prove their non existant point.

Is T-Mac an angel? Hell no, how he left this team was wrong. He was a diva, and we traded him because of that, and because he was an asset to us as an expiring contract. But one thing people cannot deny was that he did more good for this franchise than bad. Was he injured? Hell yes, but who wasn't during these stretches, hell I don't know if anybody played through more injuries on this Rockets team than McGrady did. He should have had surgery in the middle of the 07-08 season, but he stuck through it. He even gave us a fighting chance in that playoffs, had Alston not got injured, we were 2-1 in the series when McGrady had someone else that could actually do something on the basketball court.

There was the entire 04-05 season, where he was arguably a top 5 player in the game (only three players that season averaged 25/5/5 - LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Tracy McGrady - Mac was the only one to make the playoffs). The 13 points in 33 seconds, the dunk over Bradley, the 48/9/9 against Dallas/playoff series against Dallas. The 22 game winning streak, the 20-10 stretch in 06-07 without Yao, the month of January that year where he did 30/7/6. The 3 All-NBA selections, the 3 All-Star games, the 3 Top 10 finishes in MVP Voting. How could anyone say he faked injury in 08-09, when he was the most exuberant about getting Ron Artest? He felt it was his time to finally advance with a very potent supporting cast, but unfortunately for him the cards didn't fall that way because he could barely MOVE on the court.

Yet all these tmac haters only remember/point towards that Toronto game. Yes, I know we didn't advance with him, but anyone thinking if a healthy McGrady had a chance to play in that series against the Lakers, we sure as hell would have been more competitive on the road than we were. Anyways, I'd much rather what I listed above then some of the crap we're enduring right now, unable to pick a proper direction.

Again, I'll reiterate, how can anyone say T-Mac faked injuries, when he knew that was his best year, his final chance to try to cement his legacy as someone that just didn't put up sexy stats, but be a winner in the PLAYOFFS as well. Nobody was more excited about the Artest signing, and no one was more excited about the prospect of that season. He couldn't move on the damn court, yet tried playing through it to the point where he felt he couldn't anymore. Nobody risks that sort of legacy, that sort of money, and that sort of potentially career ending surgery b/c they "felt like it." And what he did was wrong in trying to find multiple doctors opinions, but after seeing a little recent turn of events, maybe every Rockets player should seek alternate opinions away from the Rocket doctors, because they sure as hell haven't been getting it right.

For all the people that come to bash him in this thread, rehashing old things that are completely overblown, are still the ones that haven't moved on. I feel that's because they knew he was our best chance of doing something special as a team, but the damn injuries ruined our chances yet again. The same thing, even moreso is happening with Yao, to a point we have no one to build around, with no sense of direction whether to rebuild or make the playoffs. Anyway, to these fans, I truly advise you to move on. He is no longer on the team, and hasn't been on it for a year now. He's trying to find his way as a productive player in this league, and he's showing more consistent flashes this past month. It's a thread to view the progress of McGrady as a Detroit Piston. Earlier in the season, none of this would have irked me so much since well, he was playing poorly. Whatever criticism he got was warrented, but now, when he's playing better, the only thing these fans can do is bring up old BAD memories (which again aren't more than the good) to try to bring him down.

I do agree he overstayed his welcome here, and that's why we as an organization rightgfully parted ways. But stop bringing up the past in a thread about the present.

This thread should be about current T-Mac. If you're going to criticize something about him in what he's currently doing, then go ahead. But those who have nothing negative to say, and are bringing up that "Toronto" game, and other poor decisions he's made with his tenure as a Rocket, "rehashing the past," then GTFO

Talk and assume all you want, but statistics and rankings back me up. Grant Hill only played 4 games and T-Mac's numbers weren't that much better than Iverson, but the Magic were a better team by almost any way you looked at it that season. The difference between the teams during playoffs time was that Iverson stepped up as a leader when his team truly needed to, something T-Mac has never done for any of his teams.

I mean I'm a rockets fan first, but all you mcgrady haters are just jealous he didn't play like he is CURRENTLY with us in 09. He's significantly better, I'll go as far to say that current RIGHT NOW this date McGrady is equal to '08 McGrady, you know THAT GUY that led us through the 22 game winning streak with that loser who's our center, that can't be healthy even if there was a bullet to his head out.

I have facts to back me up, good sir. You resort to petty insults and opinions, like any other T-Mac fan.

Show me the numbers/statistics/rankings please, because in '01 the Sixers had the DPOY, they were considered a top 5 defensive team based of DTrg, they had the 6th man of the year, the better coach (coach of the year). The better overall roster, McGrady's '01 team was nothing significant. Show me your rankings/statistics I'd like to see these ROFL.

It's also funny that you say "the Magic were a better team by almost any way you look at it that season", considering the Sixers had a significantly better record, and considering statistics/rankings show me who had the better cast/team based off of objective evidence, the same evidence that you state you have to prove, so I'd like to see these "numbers" you keep babbling on about, and I don't want a "sorry I don't have time to waste on a Mac fan like you", because your argument won't fly.

Sixers had the best record in the eastern conference by a significant margin, they HAD the best team assembled with one of the best defensive anchors to play the game in Mutombo anchoring a number 5 ranked defense, were giving up only 90PPG (5th best), 5th in FG% defense, holding the opponent to under 43%, come on there's nothing you can show me to prove that the Magic in '01 were significantly better than the '01 Sixers.

I want these numbers, I'm serious, so I can get a nice ROFL out of it.

Are you defending McGrady by taking a shot at Yao being injury prone. Really? You mean THAT GUY that was actually on the team when we got past the first round. They're both fragile over payed injury prone payers but at least when Yao's out for the year, there isn't stupid **** spewing from him.

    Such stupidity.

LMFAOROFL WOW are you talking about these links?

Show me the statistics/rankings that you keep saying that you have in these links (and LOL @ you using wikipedia as your source). The Sixers based on Dtrg, Otrg, ANYTHING you want to point to are a significantly better team than the Magic, like there's absolutely NO comparison. Again from all aspects the Sixers were significantly the best team in the eastern conference, they had a top 5 rank defense, 5th in Opp PPG, 5th in opp FG% defense, 6th in perimeter defense, Larry Brown knew how to get the job done defensively, and again through those links SHOW ME how the Magic were better, come on SHOW ME.

By far the biggest nonsense someone has ever posted, you think you should intelligent posting a bunch of links to rosters, but you back up NOTHING, you just show me links, and every statistic however points to the Sixers being better.

What statistics? What rankings? WTF are you smoking seriously? You post a couple basketball-reference pages and wikipedia, and talk about that's your evidence? Did you even see what was on those pages? That's weak man. LOL, I wouldn't expect you to understand anyway. People that are so blinded in hate are oblivious to the truth, that they are so demented in the head that they're able to see whatever they want when looking at something. And you wanted to see statistics that went against the Magic, and that's exactly what you saw. Convenient isn't it? You'll soon learn in life when you grow older, that real life doesn't work that way.

You want statistics? The Sixers that year had the 5th best ranked defense in the NBA, all credited to Mutombo anchoring the paint, and guys like Snow, and Lynch on the perimeter, who allowed Iverson to gamble. Larry Brown is an all time great head coach, and one of the best defensive minds to have ever coached. You know the Sixers actually went 6-5 without Iverson? Not great by any stretch of the imagination, but much better than I'm sure you're made up statistics would have come up with.

No need to say anymore, baller024 pretty much covered everything.

“In the past couple of games, the third quarter has been our downfall, just coming out flat and then we’re trying to play catch-up later in the game,” McGrady said. “Tonight I wanted to impose my will on the game in the third quarter and, as you see, I was pretty aggressive.”

imagine if we had t-mac on the rockets this year. championship?

Like most people who interpret every word that comes out of mcgrady's mouth. Everything is overblown. seriously yall got your feelings hurt because mcgrady picked the lakers to win it all? Ok just to set the record straight i listened to that entire interview and when that question came up mcgrady said that he was rooting for his guys and that the lakers would have to get past them first if they wanted to win it all. Gosh dont take everything so personal. How was he being a diva over playing time? unless you mean when he said he would like his mins to increase after playing 8 mins each game. Yes mcgrady did say that but he wasnt whining and being a diva about it. I think he was just answering a question and he told them how he felt. I think what was more alarming is when they asked t-mac whether or not Adelman has talked to him about what he would like to see out of mcgrady. You know what his reply was too that?..he said no he doesnt. Where was the communication. You say Mcgrady hasnt accepted an ounce of responsibility well let me tell you something neither have the Rockets. I think both sides knew it was time too move on and they are both equally responsible for how it ended.

This is where you should have stopped.

You can be a T-Mac hater all you want, but don't go as far as to say something as r****ded as this. I don't even want to look at the rest of your posts because I'll feel dumb. I hope you are a 10 year old behind the computer typing this right now...
