which - of course - is what makes the current situation such a compelling story.

Former prodigy -all everything - battered bruised and beaten - playing on a knee and shoulder that required surgery in a playoff series against the foul happy Jazz - surrounded by the aging Dikembe and a group of rookies (Landry, Scola, Brooks - not only first playoffs - but first seasons in the nba) and there was McGrady - fighting, clawing scratching to two amazing wins - all to the jeers of the anointed know nothings of Houston sports punditry.

Now - playing for the league minimum - literally for love of the game - can he come back? This is the story of tracy's career - this is why sport is compelling - not because of the slickness of the corporate suites or the clever marketing of Dwade on a cell phone or even the sage ponderous wisdom of the phalanx of moronic hangers on and observers - but because something compels us to compete and this kind of real life Rocky story is inspiring.

yeah outside the three point line and taking Detroit out of their rhythm. the old tracy would eat that trap alive.

Looks like they took Gortat's comments to heart. Kuester didn't make any adjustments to the halfcourt trap, which is very easy to exploit with the correct positioning. Terrible coaching.

Because JVG's offense plan was to tell Tracy "go make something happen!". Pick and roll with Tracy and Yao all night long.

And there aint too much wrong with that! A superstar player (as Tracy was back then) is often told to do that, its the best way for them to exploit their superior talent over other players. It isnt often u see a superstar player run off screens all night, possibly Reggie Miller, and maybe Ray Ray. But think of like Carmelo, Kobe, Bron etc isolations, pick and rolls and post ups are where alot of their points are generated.

to be fair that's great coaching by Gentry to disrupt the pistons offense but the real scary fact is that it is disrupting their offense. Are you telling me the other 4 guys that are playing 4 on 3 can't generate more than 32 points in a half? I thought this was a team of offensive weapons and scorers.....This is yet another team that cannot succeed without Tracy Mcgrady...and not to insult him because i'm impressed with his comeback to this point but Tracy just isn't the guy who can generate offense for 40 plus...heck even 30 plus minutes anymore....

The fact that this offensively loaded team with so many players with 'potential' ( Stuckey, Daye, Monroe, Wilcocks...sorry wilcox(none of which i believe have any potential for any consistent stardom or even rotation players on most teams, except maybe Monroe)) and scorers in Gordon, Charlie V, and Rip...these can't do anything without a billups or McGrady type player with them....So pathetic for such a great franchise...

he doesnt move off the ball, hasnt stepped inside the 3 point line in like a billion possessions and wants the home run play when they pass him the ball.
