It's really no different than cutting him, it's not like he pulled off some crazy trade, the deal is probably better for the Raiders than it is for the Texans. The ONLY difference between cutting him and this trade for the Texans is what's probably a 6th round pick.

They don't get to spread the cap hit out over two years with a trade. It could have been 3 + 7 instead of 10 this year.

Good, it keeps Rick from pushing debt down the line.. It would have been irresponsible to go 3 + 7

It could have been the difference in keeping owen. Are you pro tanking?

    Yes,

Rick Smith made lemonade out of lemons. The whole Schaub contract mess was Kubiak and now next year we are gonna have like 50 million free plus no dead money

OD is very replaceable. In fact, Griffin is the better player at this point.

Also, Graham is basically Daniels. Do you notice how OD remains a FA?

I am NOT pro tanking. I want us to compete. But, I want this salary cap mess to be fixed as well. It appears OB is doing the right thing.

Rubbing nickles together every year to sign the likes of Joe Mayes is unacceptable.

OD had no future on this team...better to get rid of all debt/bad contracts so that we can go into 2015 with a mostly clean slate.

Texans are positioning themselves nicely for the future...just need a damn QB.

Schaub was awful last year. The Raiders are using cap space to sign a bunch of veterans on 2 year deals. Frees up space to extend young talent in upcoming years.

The Raiders are building one hell of a Franken-team.

Lots of guys close to 30 or over it on short term deals.

It's like a box of misfit toys. Won't contend, but might be fun as hell to watch.

Especially compared to the last 3 years.

Now that it's official, how fitting is it that Schaub's very last pass as a Texan was an INT?

And last year wasn't...??? Can't expect a first time NFL coach to sprinkle magic dust and work miracles. Of course we can hope but Kubiak didn't leave this team with fresh groceries in the cupboard like Andy Read left for Chip Kelly in Philly.
