Hey, something we both can agree on. And, since at least half of all gun owners don't have safes, a great way to reduce the number of guns out there. Great idea!!
Well. A good safe cost less than the damn gun itself. Kids get in to everything, and you just have to take all risk out of it. I try to see both sides with this gun violence thing but the loudest echo is one that screams, if they are sick enough to do it they are sick enough to find a way. I use my M4(if we’re talking assault weapons)to blow holes in animals, and it is much easier to shoot accurately in short range situations if ever needed. I have been in a home that was broken in to before without an adequate weapon(younger years). It was a terrible feeling. I don’t consider a 9mm an adequate weapon of defense either.
High schoolers are walking out of school in Florida, and elsewhere, in protest of the inability of their state government to pass anything regarding the control of assault rifles and high capacity clips, as well as far better background checks. I love it! I was surprised, since nothing like that has happened before that I'm aware of. Good for them! Reminds me of the late '60's and early '70's.
When I saw this article earlier, I was startled. Then I saw it was the other El Camino High School in California (I went to the one in South San Francisco,).
If there was gun insurance or (real) gun licensing, then people would pay bigly for not having proper gun storage and training. I am still pro-gun overall, but it's ridiculous that we treat these as if they are collectible pez dispensers instead of something that can easily harm an owner's family, a neighbor's family, or, in extreme circumstances, an entire school or concert.

Link deleted. This was definitely domestic though on a campus. A 19-yr-old kid went and killed both his parents @ Central Michigan U. Not a mass shooting so I shouldn't have bumped this thread in any case. I kind of jumped the... oh nevermind.
Tragic, but doesn't really fit the mass shooting description. Article says it was a domestic incident. And, we generally say 4+ victims to be a mass shooting.
Okay, I'll delete the post if the death toll stays at 2. I hope they've apprehended the perp. When I first posted it, the lock down was in an academic building, not residential.
When the government kicks in your door all those guns locked in a safe are going to provide zero determent.
Opinion shifted quickly after the Parkland school shooting. The kids are making a big difference. Hope it sustains. The poll also found widespread bipartisan support for a range of gun-control policies, including: requiring background checks for all gun buyers (94 percent), adding people with mental illnesses to the federal gun background check system (92 percent), raising the legal age to purchase guns from 18 to 21 (82 percent), banning bump stocks (81 percent), banning high-capacity ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds (73 percent) and banning assault-style weapons (72 percent).
