Since Abreu DFA: 18-6 (major league best) Losses of 2-0, 3-2, 7-6 and a game tied at 2 in the bottom of the 6th 5.92 Runs per game No Tucker.
35-18 in games decided by 3 runs or more. He's really good at this aspect of management. Where you turn on the cruise control.
Yesterday: Meyers 104.2 MPH 405 ft double that would have been a HR in 15 stadiums. Today: Meyers 106.2 MPH 417 ft double that would have been a HR in 25 stadiums. Tomorrow he gets it !!
And that cuts both ways (see our Twins 13-12 victory). Should I deduct that from his wins? You're fixated on something that isn't really relevant (because it's sparingly been the case and it evens itself out because its a 2 way street). This doesn't hold weight to the fact we are a dismal and catastrophic 14-26 in the games he needed to manage us to victory and he's nearly failed 2/3 of the time.
This is the right call. Bloss is by far the Astros most ready and best pitching prospect for right now. They need to see what he can do for now and to see what he holds for the future. I expect he will be competitive - if the defense is focused and the pen is solid, the Astros can win a lot of his starts.
Marlins 11 hits, Astros just 5 hits. But Marlins struck out 13 times, 6 in last 3 innings (yay "Big 3"). Astros just 4 K's. Guess sometimes old-style batting the ball in play without whiffing can produce results. Astros got 2 runs off basehits, the rest on batted outs. Theyve have gotten better at creating basic runs, than just relying on homeruns & big inning. Key is still for pitchers to limit runs. They should not have 10 run leads, yet somehow it turns into qualifying for a darn SAVE opportunity to end it.
^^^^ enjoy another drunk post ^^^^ _____ Astros have a 9-game home winning streak (27-19 overall) --- a far cry from last year's 39-42 and 1-5 in the playoffs. They prob haven't been 8 games above 500 since '22.
I thought Meyers had really cooled off but he's still sporting nearly a .350 expected wOBA on the season. Guy is such a beast CF. I hope Click gets some satisfaction from that.
So it's not me that thinks this has happened at a higher rate than previous years...? The 12th and 13th relievers don't have to be Stanek-esque, they just need to be able to eat innings in blowouts without completing imploding or running out of gas before a leverage reliever is needed to finish the game... I really, really hate the new Manfraud rule on position players pitching...
