we would have to have an Angel-esque type of collapse for that to happen. Otherwise, he's safe in his job.
The Angels were on a 14 game losing streak and have sucked for all of Madden's tenure. The Astros are coming off a WS appearance and currently have the 2nd best record in the AL. Whatever you think of Dusty or Madden or the Angels, them firing Madden while the Astros haven't fired Dusty has nothing to do with the Angels having balls and the Astros not.
And I think we have had success despite Dusty. He hasn't won a WS as a manager anywhere despite having stacked teams. We have some of (if not the most) talent in baseball. He doesn't win championships. Like I mentioned earlier, I understand he may have been forced on us but I'm guessing that must be over by now. If we want another WS, he needs to go. It takes balls to get rid of a problem who is a "nice guy" but that's what it would require. Angels were just a recent example
It doesn't take balls to get rid of nice guys - they get fired all the time. It also doesn't take balls to get rid of a manager who's team sucked for his entire tenure and who's team was on a 14 game losing streak.
And that's only part of what I posted. It's no surprise that Dusty has never won a ring as a manager. That's a fact. He's costing us games not winning them
I can weather a lot of Dusty stupidity, but where tf is McCormick? He’s gotten benched even though he’s clearly better than Siri.
He's a little better offensively than Siri, defensively Siri is a lot better. Overall they are about the same player...not very good, tolerable starter at best.
3 for 29 with runners in scoring position the last two games. Dusty can’t hit for them! What he can do though is adjust his lineup, and not doing that is completely on him. There’s plenty of blame to go around for this weak offense.
McCormick has been substantially better at the plate this season, and he had a monster year defensively as well last year.
I don't even think that would do it. Saint Dusty might even be extended with a collapse. It's not about baseball, it's all about PR.
I would keep pena in the bottom half right now. He’s not a 3 hole guy yet. Yes I know Bregman isnt either.
I think part of why JV wanted a start today on 4 days' rest is because the Marlins are one of the 2 teams (along with the Reds) he still hasn't beat. I know he really wants the chance.
