I really like Towles' approach to hitting. The problem I've seen at this level is his bat speed. I don't know if it's something that he can overcome but he does have patience and a pretty good eye.
Dude, he was bad for 50 at-bats - that's more than three times the prerequisite to end a career. He needs to retire and go back to his ranch.
TOWLES.. Did you hear about that statement about Ricky Bennett and Our whole staff only caring about Makeup and Batting Average? WAS A CHEAP SHOT.
If he keeps hitting well, we may be able to package him in a deal if we keep making progress and win some games.
Lamb was absolutely awesome for us in 06 and 07. That was a good signing given what was expected of him.
Not a "quality" start from Myers, but he did a good job of bouncing back from the first two innings and saving the bullpen for tonight. It'd be nice if we could pull this one out.
Well, that's already 3 BBs for non-Berkman Astro hitters. I set the over/under at 5.5 for the series. I knew that this set of Marlin pitchers gives up walks but I didn't think we could take advantage of it.
There is a higher run expectancy when you have men on 2nd and 3rd and 1 out, esp. with your 2 best hitters at the plate, but you still take it.
I found a rather interesting image about Lee's performance this season while doing a bit of googling...
I think in the end Lyon will end up being a nice, overpaid, 8th inning guy or better known as Jared Jeffries...lol
I don't think that he will perform to his salary or that we had any need to spend that kind of money on a reliever but he did pitch well that inning.
Hehe. They're bad at plate discipline, but I don't think they'll be historically terrible now that Lance is back. I think there's definitely something to the notion that Lee, Pence and Feliz have been overly aggressive in trying to carry the offense (with Berkman out) as well as snap the team out of that awful start.
