Lane is back to striking out with the bases loaded.

Man, what a classic shot. Roy is often my favorite Astro.

Plus he drives a bulldozer on his days off...

Only 18 runs shy of my prediction, but I'll take it.

HI everyone my very first post on here. Talking about Lidge, I read that he was tinkering with a splitter. If so did anyone notice hime throw one?

I wasn't able to watch the game, but I read that Lidge was not going to throw it until it was 'major league' ready.

1-0 game too low for some of you? Baseball games were regularly played like this in certain eras. Maybe we should embrace pitching? You think? The game is headed that way.

I like tight, low scoring games much more than high scoring ones. One screwup, like tonight for the Marlins, can cost you the game. That said, if the Astros rest of the Astros wins were all blowouts, I wouldn't mind.

1-0 games are more entertaining than 14-17 slugfest.

In an effort to b**** about something OTHER than the Astros offense, did anyone else think that last night's umpire sucked hugely? I mean, his strike zone was all over the place. The first inning, he wasn't giving Roy the outside edge, which Roy correctly identified (or Brad, either way) and busted a guy inside for a called 3rd strike. Had he stuck to that, it would have been cool. But then later on he wasn't giving the inside edge, and the outside was called for a strike on some really ridiculous (I'm not complaining for the Astros, they were the beneficiaries for a LOT of these calls).

Seems to me that umpires, and officials as a whole in all sports, have gotten a lot worse over the last decade or so. Maybe it's just that I'm older and pay more attention to that stuff, but it can be really annoying in a game like baseball where the home plate umpire effects every single pitch.

They win...and it's not enough. They win the NL and it's a "nightmare." That's a joke.

Extrapolate out over the entire 162 game season based on one game. Awesome baseball analysis.

The Reds scored 7 runs yesterday...and lost. The Astros scored 1 run...and won. I'll take the Astros' position.

    1 win...0 losses.

    Present and accounted for.

Anyone who remembers baseball from the 70s and 80s appreciates a good 1-0 win.

I don't remember baseball in the 70s-80s (21), but yeah, I appreciate a 1-0 game. 8 Ks by Roy, 1 by Lidge, total of about 120 pitches for the two.

Plus I love Roy's "curve bawl" :D 96 mph fastball? tiiiiime to throoooow a cuuuuurve baaaaaaaall *whiff* Strike 3!

That was awesome - pitching and defense.

    8 innings, 8 KOs and a W for Oswalt,
    1 save for Lidge
    2 DPs for our infield
Ausmus gunned down another base stealer.
    #2796 for Bigg

Pettitte will continue to outclass the Marlin bats tonight.

Well I am gonna be at 75 of the 81 ballgames (I run the Ques Tec umpire grading stuff)....I did this last year too....Don't everyone get your panties in a wad about the poor offensive showing. This is just how the Astros win games, and anytime you beat the enemy ace its a good showing. Florida is probably gonna only win 70 games this year....but I guarantee they will have a W-L record like the Yankees when D-Train is on the mound.

Today we will bust out and win 6-2 or something.

My only beef last night was the roof....it was hot and sticky in there and I expected it to be closed given the whole mess that was made about it in the WS.

I had to complain about something or else it wouldnt be baseball season.

    CLOSE IT TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was more humid than it had been... but it was really only bad when the sun was still out (IMO).

80 degrees... 0% chance of rain... that roof should be opened every single time (unless it the playoffs).

If its not being used for home-field advantage purposes (which will only be in the playoffs, with those types of crowds), you have to keep up with the spirit of traditional baseball... teams played in FAR worse weather yesterday, and their fans were not phased one bit.
