It was a "minor league" team with one of the best pitchers in the game on the mound. Let's see what the offense can do against Mitre.

its not a concern that the astros still cant score runs...they had to win on a wild pitch. a win is a win but c'mon...

I was at the game. It was awesome!! Roy had one of the best outtings I've ever seen up close. I wouldn't worry about the hitting just yet we were facing one of the best pitchers in baseball who had a 2.63 era last year.

Canada and Korea were both able to pound Dontrelle pretty good.

That being said, I'm not giving up on our offense quite yet. I'd like to see Lane produce more this season, and I'm not sure what to make of Preston Wilson. He's never really hit for average, he's lost his stolen base threat, and no longer has Coors field to prop up his numbers. I'm hoping he does well, but am not overly optimistic.

Another pathetic performance by the Astros' hitters. We had to rely on a wild pitch to score our only run. We will face pitchers like Willis in the playoffs on a daily basis. This team desperately needs to learn how to manufacture runs.

My thoughts exactly. Im happy with the win, just concerned a bit for the future. Seems we picked up right where we left off at.

Nightmares of last season? The World Series season? I'll take those nightmares year in and year out.

I think JD mentioned in the broadcast the Marlins found a tweak in Dontrelle's delivery between the WBC and Spring Training and got it straightened out.

My quick rundown- Biggio, Ensberg, and Berkman were pretty much as expected (positive). Everett and Ausmus were too (not so positive). I actually thought Taveras looked improved - he didn't get any walks, but I saw a guy who was taking and fouling off more pitches, and he also hit the ball on the ground everytime like you want out of a guy with his speed.

Lane and Wilson MUST capitalize when the pitchers pitch around Ensberg and Berkman. Wilson looked awful, while Lane looked bad. Hopefully most of that was just because of Dontrelle. I think the performance of those two make or break our offense as a whole- the corner outfielders must drive in runs.

yall need to go back to the GARM and b**** about a team that really does suck.

This was the first fricken game, and we won. Doesn't matter by how much. A win is a win. And we just beat one of the best pitchers in the league.

I like how a bunch of you say you are worried about the future because of tonight. Well, wait for the Future to come. Stop being so negative.

I'll always been on this ride. No matter how badly we start, just look at it last year.

There were only like 10 of us die hards following the team during the lowest point last season. Maybe less.

    Oh well..... GO STROS!!!!

Going to rip into them tomorow night.

LOL...kinda like how the Mets found a hitch in Richard Hidalgo's swing and restored him to his prior greatness?

Exactly what I was thinking when I read that. I call total BS with what the Marlins said.

Its not a question of ripping the team. I'm sure everyone is happy that they won the game. It's just a slightly underwhelming way of winning by getting the only run of the game on a wild pitch. Of course things can get better but this was a great way to not open with a bang.

Anyway, I personally think things will pick up but it's just annoying to see these types of games so soon.

The blessing of last year is, the Astros now expect to win these close games. My father likes to point out that the Dogders of the Koufax/Drysdale era didn't score many runs either, but then they didn't have too.

After the Rockets year, it is good to have baseball back.
