Whoops. Clemens unsure of future; makes insensitive remark Roger Clemens was discussing his future Tuesday at the Astros season opener when he responded to a question about his health after the World Baseball Classic with a comment that some might consider racially insensitive. Clemens, who broke down late last season with injuries, said he felt fine after the WBC and left the tournament impressed by the quality of the international teams. But he made a questionable comment when speaking about the devotion of the Japanese and South Korean fans. "None of the dry cleaners were open, they were all at the game, Japan and Korea," Clemens said. "So we couldn't get any dry cleaning done out there, but I guess the neatest thing is that 50,000 of them were at Anaheim Stadium." Would you feel the same way if he said something like... "I'm really proud of the city of Houston for opening it's arms to the Katrina refugees, but it's just been hard to find watermelons at the supermarkets these days." Double standards, gotta love them.
well, it was only 1 game. we can make it up tomorow with a 1-0 win. Until tomorow night....I'm going to have a bad taste in my mouth. We got pwned by a minor league team. So many first MLB hits and First MLB doubles etc...tonight....
Would not bother me one bit.....or he could have said that with all these trailers being taken up by Fema, where are the Rednecks going to live? No double standards here...everyone is fair game. DD
Back to topic. I saw that Burke got some time at SS tonight, how did he look? I am hopeful that he can replace Adam no hit Ever...ett. DD
Of course, then all the black people would be up in arms...but since it's a snipe at asians, it's just glossed over...I doubt ESPN gives this any play on PTI/Around the Horn/SportsCenter. If he had said that about the Katrina refugees though...
well everyone was wondering about the offense coming into this year and so far we have put up two stellar offensive games. This might be a very long season.
When people are already b****ing after .01% of the games are played, then yeah, it's going to be a long season.
are you new to baseball? I watch a LOT of baseball and watched this happen all last season. I went to the game yesterday and as a fan and consumer I have a right to b**** when the GM knows we need more offense and gives us nothing. So after last year and the start of this year what makes you so optimistic that our offense is capable of scoring more than 1 or 2 runs a game?
