Odorizzi has been junk the third time through the order all season long. He should've went to Dusty's office or have a sit down with Strom, air his grievances there and say he has earned the opportunity to go deeper. Now, he'll probably get that shot to go deeper next start. If he gets shelled, he'll look like an idiot because he threw a tantrum publicly and we all know about it now.
Odorizzi is complaining now because next year his innings determine his money BIG time. He doesn't want to be the 4-5 inning only guy..... Here are his incentives for next season.... 100 inning 500k 110 innings 1 million 120 innings 1 million 130 innings 1 million 140 innings 1 million 150 innings 1 million 160 innings 1.25 million Also, his number of starts or appearances of 12 outs or more boosts his option/buyout for 2023. His contract is huge on incentives. He has to pitch more innings to cash in and he knows it....
Yea and Dusty would be exactly the manager to put a guy who has a 2.90 era his last 6 starts in the pen. Heck, Dusty has figured out how to get very little out of Javier And for the guys comparing Odorizzi to Fiers in 17, their years couldn't be more opposite. Fiers was solid in mid season but trending solidly down towards the end of the year to the point that there was no way he belonged on a roster. Jake has been the opposite, he was trash through the mid season and acknowledged as much in interviews. He has been much better as we are heading down the stretch though, complete opposite of what the Rat did in 17
I He's right. It's good to have conversations as long they didn't promise him to have a say on the next manager search.
Odorizzi said he loved everyone in the clubhouse. Aww... Graveman said the same after one day. And we all literally love Justin Verlander despite what Twitter says.
Odo only pitched 66 innings, but given Dusty's managerial skill he is going to pitch his starters 5-6 innings and bank on Stanek, Graveman and Pressly in tight games. I blame the Astros media PR guy for the BS by putting every starting pitcher after every post-game interviews.
OT, but here is a video of Correa throwing a bunch of people out. So many Rangers and A's challenging Correa...
This makes sense for a day game but would have loved to see if Bregman can get/stay hot after that clutch homer last night. I guess we will have to wait till Friday to find out or maybe he will be able to pinch hit at some point.
