Astros lead the league in GIDP! Should Dusty actually start to do stuff to combat this? Or just a byproduct of being on base alot & putting the ball in play?
GIDP is usually a sign of a team that gets a lot of guys on and makes a lot of contact so the latter.
Yuli has made himself into a damn good 1B, thinking back on how clueless he was footwork-wise at first. Stros have had pretty good luck turning 3B into 1B.
Another stat I didn't mention is they "by far" lead the league w/ the lowest strikeout rate at 18%. Geez... these batters need to whiff more so they stop grounding into double plays.
This ump is Exhibit 1B along w Angel as to why baseball needs to get rid of umps calling strikes/balls. He has called no less than 5 pitches almost entirely in the zone as balls. It's 2021... why do we have to put up w this?
Straw should have attempted to steal 2nd w/ Castro up. eliminates the double play in scoring position when Altuve is up if he gets caught, and assuming Castro gets out, Altuve leads off the next inning He needs Tucker's aggressiveness on the basepath
Yeah, he's got the funky hesitation thing going today. Nobody has attempted a steal off him this year but they've had good success in the past.
I didn't want to say anything until he got out of the inning. That strike 3 to Trammell was perfect, can't ask much more out of him short a day's rest. The Stros need to maybe think about getting some hits now.
