They did a terrible job of picking a vendor for DVRs. I don't like the way the DVR programming was done at all. Don't bother calling and complaining about it to TW though, they'll just tell you they didn't make it.
The guy at TW said you can hook an external HD up to it to increase the space. But then he tells me if you disconnect it and plug it back in it erases everything each time., What kind of dumb programming is that?
Finally saw the episode last night. I enjoyed it apparently a lot more than most of you. Anytime we get to see more of the Others part of the island is a good episode, in my book. Anyone else wonder about the guy in the other cage opposite Sawyer? I suppose he could just be one of the Others that was causing trouble, but I get the impression like he had been lured there or trapped there just like the crashed plane. All so very confusing.
I was wondering the same thing. I'm quite obsessed, so my conclusion may seem weird to you, but here's what I assume: The others try not to ever hurt people physically. They generally don't beat a person up throughout both seasons. This immediately hit me when I saw Carl (guy in other cage) with his nose bleeding apologizing to Sawyer (by force). It seemed quite odd to me the way they handled the situation. So it has to be one of two things: 1) Carl is very valuable. He has some kind of information that is so important that they would go to such an extreme. They do, after all, see themselves as the good guys, so for them to put a harsh beating on him... it would have to be something very important. 2) Carl USED to be one of the others who screwed up in some way. They are punishing him. He doesn't believe in whatever it is that they are doing and is willing to jeapordize it. As for Kate, whatever they did to her was planned. The guy says something like "they roughed you up pretty bad" as if to imply it was expected, but it it just turned out worse than he thought it would. I do wonder why Jack is under water while Sawyer and Kate are on land. I absolutely think that Juliet and Ben are seperated. They used to be married or something like that. I can't wait to see Saeed, Locke and Eko again. My God, this show is driving me nuts.
I finally saw the episode and I liked it...It's always interesting to see what the Others where doing when the plane crashed...They have this whole community in the island...Pretty cool... Not sure about Jack being underwater and Sawyer getting the fish biscuit...Man, Kate is just flippin' hot!!! I can't wait for next week...
I believe they left Charlie for dead for one instance. Injecting Claire with hugh needles with intentions for her demise....She was saved by Alex and Rousseau.
I think he actually said, "They cut you up pretty bad" meaning the cuffs did to her wrists. I'm not sure they did anything to Kate other than just lead her to the cage after her breakfast with "Gale." Since he made her put the cuffs on tight, the simple act of eating and walking through rough terrain might have been enough. But either way, I agree with you that the Others seem very much averse to violence for the most part.
They didn't mean to hurt Claire. There was no physical pain inflicted. They just wanted her baby, and they were doing it in a very relaxed fashion. Charlie was in the way. They had to do it. He was jeapordizing their secrecy. Clearly, they can take whoever they want without hurting them. Again for Kate... I doubt she gets that bad just from being taken to the cage. Something definitely happened. My best guess is she tried to strangle Ben/Henry. Anyone have any ideas on why the black smoke hasn't shown up for ages and why it was Eko who made it go away? In a sense, I feel the others are somehow prisoners as well. They're hiding from something.
Kate and the hobbit are getting married? *Link NSFW* http://www.wwtdd.com/index.phtml?t=EVANGELINE+LILLY
They did blow up a boat and shoot Sawyer and leave them all in the middle of the ocean to die, though.
I thought Carl was a plant/confederate. Basically they just roughed him up (or he did it to himself) for believablity and perhaps to befriend Sawyer down the line. What I was thinking anyway, that the others are all working hard to get trust of at least one of them with each captive and this was the approach with Sawyer. Wasn't Ethan kind of a loose cannon of an other or was he just a regular solider. The others def have no problem with killing some (Charlie, Tom guy or whoever, Ana and her crew).
Carl is obviously in a relationship with that girl whos that french chicks daughter. Wow... ALready Sawyer and Kate getting it on. At least hey put no sex. That would of killed the show.
Decent episode. I'm starting to hate this Ben character in the sense that the actor who's playing him is acting his ass off (I hope he gets an emmy nomination) Spoiler do you believe what he said about being able to send them home "if they cooperate?" I sure as hell don't
Spoiler Come on Jack, an Other is half way playing ball with you, ask him a legitimate question. Ask him who they are. Ask him why they haven't helped you and the other survivors get off the island. Ask him something related to the purpose of the island, the hatches, and why even though they have some contact, they are essentially cut off from the rest of the world. Or just argue with him about the Sox winning the Series and then sit there with a stupid look on your face.
Ethan wasn't a loose cannon until after Claire escaped. Then his life was on the line to get her back. Before then, he beat Jack up to get him to stop following him. He said if he kept following, then he'd kill one of them. Well, Jack kept following and Charlie was almost dead. He was being relatively nice the first go around.
