These coincidences are getting a bit General Hospital like.

Claire with black hair reminded me of a goth chick I once dated. Man I miss those artsy try anything once types.

Decent episode last nite, curious to see how Lockes story line plays out next week.

That was a pretty terrible security system the others have

Well, they did drop a heavy hint about it last season (Ana Lucia flashback, hanging out with Jack's dad in Aussie - he was trying to visit Claire and the Aunt wouldn't let him in) and on the Season 2 DVD bonus disc (a "game" that allows you to see all the interconnections between characters). So GH-esque as it is, it was not a random shark jump. Definitely planned.

Starting to look an awful lot like Locke wants the Others to take him in, rather than stay with team Jack. I'll bet $5 to the tipjar that next week's "previously...on Lost" includes imprisoned Benry "confiding" to Locke in the hatch that he was coming to get Locke to join the Others. I'm of the opinion that was burned into Locke's head, and he needs to know if he has a place with the Others.

Locke's always been driven to realize his destiny and seems certain that it is nearby. The walkabout, the hatch, now this. He's also repeatedly bent his morals and better judgment for the hope of belonging to a family (his kidney, playing along with his dad's fake death con, the mar1juana farm, etc). I think things will play out with Ben just like they did with his dad; where Locke can't accept that he was conned and spurned. He clearly did not react well to seeing Jack palling around with Tom.

I strongly suspect that he's going to confront Ben over why Jack is in the camp and not him.

Good episode, I thought goth Claire was pretty hot. The one thing I'm still wondering about is if Locke knew about the C4, what did he think was going to happen when he pushed the panic button at the Flame? I assume Locke wants to stay on the island because he knows he'll be back in his chair if he ever leaves, but would he purposely sabatoge the other survivors chances at leaving?

    Absolutely.

    Absolutely.

BTW, emjohn, nice analysis on Locke. That sounds spot-on to me.

He's proven that he will - he sabotaged Sayid's attempt to send a radio signal early in Season 1, for no other reason than to prevent a possible rescue.

Totally agree, Locke more than anyone has no real intrest or reason to want to leave the island.

On the island he's someone important, back home he's an handicap nobody

They have made a number of references recently to chance, probability and coincidence. For instance, in Desmond's flashback episode it was referenced a couple of times, and a number of characters have always been obsessed with fate and destiny, for instance with Hurley and the numbers. Another example would be Locke's obsession with games (chance/probability) I think it is going to somehow 'figure in' to what is happening on the island, so that I don't think they are just using it for melodrama.

    EDIT:

One more thing. The way everybody talks about the supposed 'leader' of the Others with creepy mechnanical sameness ("He's a great man") is becoming an obvious plot device. The only two places that I can think of where that also happens is in North Korea or in cults. I'm not sure what they are trying to do with this.

So why did eyepatch dude say "thank you" when he was going to die?

You can only stand to stomach curdled milk for so long.

The best milk is in the afterlife. In hell, it has vodka in it.

Because he wanted to die. That's what his plan was when he shot that lady and then was going to shoot himself.

In that the island managed to heal Locke's broken spine, perhaps they aren't permanently dead.

So, we should expect Shannon, Boone, Eko, Libby, and AnaL to show up any day now?

    Ok, so I'm wrong.

I still think Patchy and Mrs. Klugh were a bit too keen on getting dead, even for being the fanatics that they appear to be. Especially Patchy after that long walk across the island with all that time to think, I believe that most people would have lost the nerve to get themselves killed because 'the protocol says so' unless they were crazy or already suicidal. The grateful look he gave Locke doesn't seem like what I would have expected.
