Ottomaton, just got to say you rock. Don't know if you are right, you are probably ahead of the writers, but very interesting anyway.
I like Desmond, but the entire f'n episode dedicated to him...That was the worst episode ever...Lame, Lame, Lame...
It is a fair point/criticism that we rarely, if ever, get an ensemble episode anymore. Shows have been tightly focused on a person with 3-4 side characters. Jack ep featuring Kate and Sawyer Sayid, featuring Jin & Sun Locke featuring Charlie and Eko Kate, featuring Sawyer and Jack Eko, featuring Locke and Sayid Juliette, featuring Jack Kate and Sawyer Desmond, featuring Charlie and Hurley It really takes away a LOT that made the first season of the show so compelling. I'm dead certain that this is a budget issue where they're reining in the costs with appearance-based language in the cast contracts. It's really a shame, but this is an expensive show that the creators must fight with the networks over to retain control/vision. Evan
So in essense are you saying they are stuck in a time loop where different variations of the same events keep happening...
I understand, and some storylines are better than others...but I like more episodes like last week, more cast interaction, action...IMHO, last night's was weak...
That is exactly the idea that Desmond's physicist friend Donovan was discussing; I believe with a third party when Desmond walked up. He mentioned the name of the theory's author but I can't pull it up in my mind; and I assume it's real. I already deleted it from my DVR or I would go back and look it up.
Not so much a loop, but the island is like it's own little 'island universe' mini-universe of space/time necked off from the main universe by the force of the singularity, and the CTC provides simultaneous connections from this separate mini universe to every point in time in the main universe. The island has its own sequential time, but it is separate and unrelated to time in the normal world. One second on the island can not be mapped directly to one second in the normal universe.
the final destination type tie-ins were kinda lame... i like desmond's character though.... Spoiler i hope they kill claire off instead of charlie, she gets on my nerves more than the hobbit does
I gotcha, that make more sense in that Emily picked up some readings from the island when the hatch blew
The scene actually cuts in with the word "theory" so we never get its actual name. It talks about unpredictability and how you can run the same test 10 times and get 10 different outcomes. Also, something I noticed. When Desmond goes back and sees Charlie singing on the street corner, Charlie is singing "Wonderwall" with the lyrinc "Maybe, you're going to be the one that saves me."
Last night was a freaky episode. I kinda got the chills when he was in the jewelry shop and that lady was talking to him. Definitely one of the better episodes from season 2 or 3 although I haven't been able to make much sense of it. Does he see the future, does he travel through time, is it all in his head? Normally, the flashbacks are pointless (and I don't think they serve any use other than to take up time in order to extend the show), but Desmond's actually seemed to have some meaning to them. I forgot how good this show was after having not seen it the past couple months.
I agree. I told my girlfriend last night that it actually seemed more like the original Lost than the previous episodes of this season. I loved last nights episode. I think it's really going to pick up from here.
http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/02/16/tv.lostratings.ap/index.html Uh-oh. This continues to be the #1 danger to the show and could make everything go south in a flash. Evan
I liked the episode. It's easier for me to buy that the "flashback" actually happened when he turned the key. No other way to explain how he survived an implosion that demolished the entire hatch, or him waking up naked (like Ahnold in Terminator!) with a head wound that's consistent to getting clocked in the head by a cricket bat.
